Donald Trump once said, “My whole life is about winning. I don't lose often. I almost never lose.” Jay Gatsby has a similar outlook on life. Gatsby and Trump view themselves as winners because their pockets are stuffed with cash. Jay Gatsby and Donald Trump can agree on anything: money. Both men are ruthless, business tycoons, and measure their success in life based on their wealth. While Gatsby meets his demise towards the end of F. Scott Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby, Donald Trump is just getting started. Donald Trump is the modern-day Jay Gatsby. Donald Trump and Jay Gatsby find comfort in lavish lifestyles, humblebrag about their warped rise to success, and are willing to go to desperate measures for a business deal. It is rumored that Trump threw parties during the 90s that included teenage girls and cocaine. Women have also come forward and said that Trump sexually assaulted them during these parties. These allegations have not stopped Trump from throwing around his money to celebrate. While Donald Trump and Jay Gatsby throw some of the best parties, they tend to downplay their rise to success.
Another interesting point of comparison are Jay Gatsby and Donald Trump’s background. Jay Gatsby comes from a small town in North Dakota, but when recounting his childhood, he tells a different version to Nick. As Gatsby stumbles through his rehearsed story, Nick becomes suspense. Nick recalls the conversation,
