Most of the time, finding the cause of a murder can be tough, but trying to get into the unsub´s thoughts to comprehend how is it that they kill someone in the horrendous ways they do it can be even more difficult. This essay will compare and contrast Bones and Criminal Minds, from their job, characters, and objectives.
One of the differences Bones and Criminal Minds have is the job each of them perform. For instance, in the show Bones the main character Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan is a forensic anthropologist who examines the victims once they have already reached to their point of decomposition. Bones objective focuses on studying when, how, and why the victim died. Through the remains of the body, they examine any type of larvae or animals to find out the cause of death. After looking at the remains, Dr. Temperance Brennan with the help of the FBI agent Seeley Booth, and the information they have already gathered, both investigate how was the victim killed. When they finally get to the person who killed the victim, they bring that person for questioning and start finding out why did the unsub killed the victim. On the contrary, Criminal Minds’ objective is to study the killer. This means they study deeply how and why would a person kill someone, most of the times is because of a sexual desire they get while killing. What they do when they are at the crime scene is pretend they are the unsub, and go through the steps as how would the killer murder someone in the very detail they do. Once they have information about the murderer, they go through their stuff to try to understand them and from there get a profile of who the assassin might be. It is very important for them to pay really close attention to every detail either in the crime scene, or when they bring the unsub for questioning.
