My target audiences are Filipino Americans (FAs) and mostly the elderly. In addition, it is important to consider their various learning styles, education level, and preferred languages or dialects. Language is significantly important because not all of them can comprehend English. If I’m able to explain to them in our native language, it’ll be much easier for them to understand the importance of my teaching. According to Marcus (2014) “Communication is effective when patients receive accurate, timely, complete, and unambiguous messages from providers in ways that enable them to participate responsibly in their care.” (Marcus, 2014). I would like to emphasize the health teachings to clarify the facts of the selected health concerns, ideas, and skills, as well as to add onto/ persuade the old knowledge, perception, attitudes, beliefs, and practices of the individuals in the chosen population. In addition, the teaching includes about healthy eating like how to count the carbohydrates intake, identify the types of carbohydrate foods that are important for managing diabetes, and the highlight the importance of the diabetes regimen of a healthy lifestyle such as being active. Health care providers like community health nurses should deliver a detailed educational session regarding diabetes, especially to FAs residents and a referral with various support programs for all of the residents to lower the costs and reduce the amount for hospitalization and mortality rate. The goal is to improve the quality of life of the residents in the community and learn more about their condition. Focusing on primary and health promotions of an individual and as well as properly addressing the most important or relevant topics to the residents and the community’s health needs and issues. The goal in this nation, for a healthy population in 2020, is to improve the quality of life as residents learn more about their condition and how to prevent it before it
