The Forensics team stands out as one of the oldest continuous programs on our campus and the only competitive team at Los Angeles City College. As the current director of Forensics I am writing to apply for the Foundations $5,000 mini grant. Our Forensics was literally a founding member of College Forensics on the west coast. In the past 85 years we have earned many national recognitions and trophies, but over the last few years we have had our support cut by the college. The team has seen its budget eliminated, and had our staffing reduced. In 2012 the program was staffed by four coaches, today we are down to one. Also in the same time we have had our budget removed. America Forensics Association National Tournament. Bradly University, Peoria Illinois. No breaks. But enough 1st place ballots to be ranked 54th out of 108 colleges and Universities participating. AFA national ranking for year 54th in nation.

One success not listed above is our transfer rate. Forensics traditionally transfer students at a much higher rate than the college as a whole, in the past 2 years our small team has transferred 9 students to 4 year Universities. With our FTEs slashed and our coaching positions cut we have seen a reduction in the amount of students the team serves. This year our team consist of 10 students.

Proposal for Funds
If selected the Forensics team would apply the grant to the following area.
1. Hire hourly coaches to supplement our limited staff. 40 hours at going rate ($16) Total 640
2. Smart Board projector and White Board for Squad room. $ 1600
3. The remainder of funds would go to offset travel cost to State Championship in San Jose and National Tournament at the University of
