College Football Career Analysis

Thinking back to when I was a freshman in college in 2007, like many freshmens and I had no idea what I was doing or what I wanted to go to school for. This was my first step into adulthood (even though I was 17) making choices on my own and being responsible and accountable for my actions and choices. I did not have many role models to look up to because coming from a large family of 10 brothers and sisters I was the eighth child and the only one who has attended college. I knew one thing for certain going to college, I wanted to play football. Halfway through my undergrad I learned that helping others is more than just lending money or letting someone stay with you until they are able to get back on their feet etc. Looking at things from a micro and macro perspective such as offering family resources that prevent bad behaviors. For example a family living in property with multiple children but allows her teenage child to stay home from school to watch the young children. Giving this family resources for childcare and utilizing friends and family to watch the younger child, which will prevent the teenage child from missing school. I completed a internship at Centennial middle school and really enjoyed my experience working with seventh graders. The biggest thing I realized is taking the time to work with the kids and them noticing that someone cares about their future. Sitting in my SWU 310 class listening to the DCS recruiter, is when I realized that I wanted to work with children. I embraced my role as a DCS Specialist and truly enjoyed what I was accomplishing. The most important role of a DCS case specialist is to assess the child's safety and make sure they are being met. In doing so I maintained communication with the child, foster mother, parents and the attorney to assure that goals were being addressed. The personal exposure and experience gave me the insight to realize I want to earn a Masters in Social Work with a specialization in child
