My career choice for the future is dog grooming. This career choice interests me because I want a career to do with animals and grooming is an interesting and a seemingly fun career. Although I could do a grooming career with both dogs and cats, I would want to focus more on grooming dogs than cats. With grooming as a career or job you may want to research it to make sure it’s the right fit, as with any long term career. Knowing about a career before you pursue it can help you know if it’s something you want to do in the long run. The cost, education and length of training for a dog grooming career could be long and expensive but it all depends on what kind of groomer or what program you go through. So if someone decides to do training through a professional program it could cost anywhere from $3,000-$6,000 dollars although online training for this career may only cost $400-$600 dollars. This training may take any length of time from a few weeks to 6 months depending on how you go about it. The weeks or months of training usually include going over how to properly bathe, groom, trim nails, and clean ears of a dog. Along with a diploma you do need either on-the-job training or an apprenticeship in grooming. Some people even go so far as to get a certificate in dog grooming although it’s voluntary and not necessarily always required. This can be very helpful to someone who wants a career with animals but does not or cannot go into a college for the career.
