The scholarly article, Effects of Hydration Status on Cognitive Performance and Mood by Natalie Masento, Mark Golightly, David Field, Laurie Butler, Carien Reekum, from the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading, states consuming water is necessary for life as it is for the brain and mental functions. Masento, Golightly, Field Butler, and Reekum (2014) describes, certain groups such as elderly and infants are more susceptible to dehydration (1841). This is because these individuals are unable to gauge their thirst level (p.1842). Masento et al. states, a study by “Benton & Burgess” indicates “Short-term memory has also been shown to improve after water consumption…found by three studies that investigated acute water intervention in school children” (2014, p.1848). It was also revealed by “Edmonds & Burford”, school children between seven and nine had enhanced visual memory and alertness after water consumption (2014, p. 1848). Finally, Edmonds et al. studied a group of individuals who were given water but were unaware of the testing. The study demonstrated improved moods immediately after consuming water (2014, p. 1848). He leaves his imaginary world, where he is the almighty king, to face the much more challenging real world. The Fall of a City is written by Alden Nowlan in order to express his vision of the transition from youth to manhood because of societal pressure, and the hardship is shown through the critique of Teddy’ uncle and aunt about their nephew’s character traits and the diverse conflicts which the protagonist faces within the story.

This manual is published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and is currently in its fifth revision. Moreover, the manual is utilized by a multitude of mental health care professionals around the world in the process of identifying individuals with disorders and provides a comprehensive list of the various disorders that have been identified. The DSM serves as the essential resource for diagnosis of mental disorders based off of the various signs and symptoms displayed by individuals while also providing a basic reference point for the treatment of the different disorders. The manual attempts to remain scientific in its approach to identifying the underlying symptoms of each disorder while meeting the needs of the different psychological perspectives and the various mental health fields. The DSM has recently gone through a major revision from the DSM-IV-TR to the DSM-5 and contains many significant changes in both the diagnosis of mental disorders and their classifications.

In this world, there are many different individuals who are not only different in demographics but also different neurologically. Due to an immense amount of people it is important to first understand each individual, in order, to better understand them and to help them when it comes to certain areas such as education, the work force, and etc…. For this reason psychologists have aimed to further understand individuals through the use of psychological assessments. This paper aims to examine a particular assessment tool, the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales (Fifth Edition), which measures both intelligence and cognitive abilities (Roid, 2003). This assessment is usually administered by psychologists and the scores are most often used to determine placement in academics and services allotted to children and adolescents (despite their compatibility for adults) (Wilson & Gilmore, 2012). Furthermore before the investigation dives into the particulars of the test, such as its strengths and weakness’, it is best to first learn more about the intelligence scales general characteristics.
I have being drinking a lot of sodas and sport drinks, and maybe barely two cups a day of water. I guess I am one of those people who care more about the taste then its contents but I have to change to have a longer lasting health. I know the advantages and benefits of water so I am going to reduce drinking carbonated drinks and concentrate more on drinking water. One of the benefits I see that comes out of drinking water is I will be saving a lot of money on sodas and sport drinks. But the main reason to drink water would be to achieve good and better health.
Emotional intelligence is being able to read people and understand people through their facial expressions or body language. We use our emotional intelligence every day whether it be at work or at home. For example, I may use my emotional intelligence at home to be able to read whenever my kids are telling me a fib. I can tell by their reaction. I believe emotional intelligence can be taught from the being but also be learned every day. The number of time mothers spends with their kids and their interactions are important for trait emotional intelligence because they are likely to promote modeling, reinforcement, shared attention, and social cooperation (Alegre, 2012).
