Climate change is no doubt one of the greatest threats to this planet today. Coastal cities flooding due to melting ice caps and rising water levels, cities experiencing extreme weather, and ocean life dying because of warmer water temperatures, it is not wonder why so many scientist and country leaders are worried about the safety and future of their country. The U.S. is just one of these countries where climate change endangers 333 million people. That is why the U.S. must take action to assure the future of their residents and safety of their numerous coastal cities. Due to the rising coastal water levels, previous legislative mistakes, and the risk of further climate change consequences, President Trump should acknowledge the need for the …show more content…

He pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement, stopped funding a $2 billion dollar commitment to the Green Climate Fund, and revoked the Executive Order 13653 and the Presidential Memorandum, on Climate Change and National Security, which both deal with the need for federal agencies to plan for the protection of their operations and investments from climate change impacts (Source 4). The Presidential Memorandum on Climate Change and National Security especially was important as it recognized climate change as a national threat which coexisted with the six key ways listed by a report by the National Intelligence Council (Source 4). The budget set by NDAA also exceeds the 2011 Budget Control Act. This is problematic as since most of the budget money were to be going towards other aspects besides climate change, coastal military bases would receive not nearly as much as they need to fully protect themselves against the risks of climate change consequences. In addition to budget problems, the NDAA is nothing radical or new. There are several acts that have been issued with the same outline as NDAA, or some even go into more detail about climate change and the preparation for such consequences, as NDAA does not order that bases must create a plan to deal with these effects of climate change. The general idea of the order listed in NDAA is the adaptation, defined as the adjusting to the effects of climate change in our environment, instead of addressing the very important topic of mitigation, which is the reduction of harmful greenhouse gases and other pollutants to slow the effects of climate change (Source 6).There are several problems that arise with this exclusion because this is a major threat to the survival
