The experiences that comes to mind when I think of something that will influence my academics and goals at Colorado Christian University is what happened during this previous year. I had previously transferred from Gulf Coast to a different college, Post University, doing online classes for the same degree that I am currently pursuing. But this past year has been extremely hard on my family. In May of last year, my grandfather had a boating accident and was pronounced braindead. He and I were close even though he wasn't blood related, he was still my step-mom's dad and he was my family. That was the first hit I took. In October, I had changed gears and had my grades back up, and was ready for what life had to throw at me, or so I thought.
By the end of November, I had found a full-time job with the podiatrist office that I currently work for. I was prepared for all the overtime with school and two jobs that I was about to endure for two weeks, until my husband started having problems. We ended up going to the
ER the night of my first day of my new job. My husband had tight chest pain, his blood pressure was extremely high, and he had lost control of his body at a certain point while we were driving home that night. Thankfully, he didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. But the doctor said that if we did not go in when we did, he could have and it would have been fatal. That was what took most of my mind off of school. I worked both my jobs while I worked my two weeks out with one of them, then I took care of my husband and our son who had come down sick at the same time. I ended up failing both classes that I was taking at the time and took a semester off to recoup from the issues that had fallen upon us. When I went back, I was told that I had two

semesters to get my GPA back up to standard due to the circumstances of the reason it was
