The Importance of Sports in School Sports are an important issue in our society. Participation in school sports can have a major positive impact on a child. All over the world there are millions of children involved in organized and recreational sports. The opportunity to play sports or participate in extracurricular activities is vital to the growth of a student in many ways. Being apart of a team can help children develop and grow. Students can learn the value of hard work and also the importance of teamwork.
Many life lessons can be taught through sports. Children can learn the importance of work ethic, working with others, perseverance, and the list goes on. There are studies that have shown that kids who are involved in athletics are more successful in the business world. It is only when parents turn the sporting events into an ultra-competitive requirement for their child that it can become detrimental. The lessons that sports teach kids about real life is one of the greatest benefits that can be gained from sports.
For example, kids can get a concussion playing sports and might get affected by this their whole life. But I believe that youth competitive sports are good for kids because they learn important life lessons. For example, they can learn how to be a leader which is an important skill to have in today’s world, they can also learn how to work as a team to accomplish things that wouldn’t be possible to do as an individual. This is shown in source 2 when it says, “ Playing sports prepares a leader to influence others, set realistic goals and solve problems efficiently to win a competitive advantage”(Duggan 4). This means that sports help kids become better leaders by teaching them to set goals for themselves and by helping them become better problem solvers, both of these skills are needed if you want to be a good leader.
Sports are also a platform for children to learn lessons that they will carry with them in their daily lives. However, the very people who encourage them to participate in these sports often cross the line between competition and fun. At what point do parents and coaches stop to think that they may be pushing their athletes or childern beyond thei... ... middle of paper ... ...impress anyone. Also, "sports are a great equalizer: rich or poor, black or white" youth are able to communicate and work with all races developing "people skills" needed to succeed in life (). The qualities children learn through youth sports will help them in their personal and professional lives.
Sports Education is used in schools when children are young, in hope that they will gain a passion towards a certain sport so they will join a team and become more active. Children that do not have opportunities due to family issues or any type of restrictions may fall in love with a sport and follow that sport for years to come, putting them into a healthy lifestyle. Sports Education units have multiple objectives, which all benefit the students in one-way or another. One of the large benefits is that students gain skills and fitness that is related to a specific sport or activity. This teaches them that staying physically active is beneficial to their health and that not all physical activities have to be boring and tedious, sports are fun and get people running around, and in shape.
Sports in school are very necessary for students and for the students’ well being during the school year. Participating in school athletics or school competitions gives students so much more than just being able to wear their certain jersey or uniform. Being apart of a team and competing with that team teaches many valuable lessons. It teaches kids to have self-discipline and how to be a leader. Being a good leader is a great quality
Sports create a successful future and a higher education by teaching students to challenge themselves, be social, and think cognitively while being competitive. Most students need a push that drives them to excel in school. Sports help by teaching them to take risks and challenge themselves to reach a certain goal. People change for the better with the help of sports. For example, a former N.F.L player, Donte Stallworth, wrote an article, "School Sports Provide lessons in How to Live," providing his past life on how sports helped him succeed in life.
Within sports comes the self esteem and motivation that children crave and need so much as the building block to a successful life. Organized sports ca be good or bad. Whether a youngster has a successful experience depends entirely on the quality of the program he is enrolled in. If the quality of adult supervision is high, our kids can achieve all the rewards that sports have to offer. Works Cited and Email Responses 1.)
The sport education model for teaching is an effective way to not only to get students involved and active but also to teach the many different factors and benefits sports can offer. One of main ideas behind sport education is to teach new and different sports to the students. If this is done efficiently they can be shown dozens of new sports throughout their school career. A lot of physically, unhealthy, and inactive people do not have a favorite sport or are not very good at the one’s they have been introduced to before. Hopefully after learning and playing so many different ones they can find one they can enjoy and/or excel at.
Also it teaches execution and strategies and encourages competitiveness. It is important for kids to be competitive because they will have to be in life and it will teach the importance of winning and losing the right way. “Sports offer kids a great chance to work cooperatively toward a common goal. And working coope... ... middle of paper ... ..., younger kids can lose interest if they are not good at it, and it can embarrass them. Sport Education is done and taught by teachers to get kids involved in physical activity and to keep them motivated to learn.
