Civil Matter/Child Custody Question On 04/24/2017 at approximately 0800 hrs, I was informed by the PD secretary that a female and her daughter needed to speak to me about an issue. In the front PD lobby, I made contact with Loretta Bustos (DOB-11/18/1977), and her daughter Sydney Vanzandt (DOB-07-04-2000) in refernence to a child custody question. Bustos advised her daughter Sydney and Dylan Vanzandt had a child together, but are going to divorce soon. Bustos mentioned that the child is currently being held at Dylan's residence with his family, but wants her daughter to also have the child because she feel's they won't let her see or take the child with her. I advised Bustos and Vanzandt that it's going to be a child custody matter/civil issue due to the fact they have a child together and are currently married. I informed Bustos and Vanzandt that Dylan cannot keep the child from her because she is the mother of the child. I explained that going to court for this matter is the best way to handle the current situation due to them not living together. Bustos asked if I could assist with getting the child from Dylan's family, I advised I could only go with them to keep the peace, but could not …show more content…
Hwy 80 across from the Nixon-Smiley gym. I knocked on the door and made contact with Chrystal Vanzandt (02-09-1979), I informed Vanzandt that I'm here to assist with a child custody situation. Bustos and Sydney arrived and stepped aside, I informed Vanzandt that Sydney is here wanting to pick up her daughter and take her home with her. I mentioned the issue Dylan and Sydney may face is a child custody battle. I advised all parties that it is a civil matter where I can't step in to tell who can take or have the baby due to Sydney and Dylan being the mother and father of the child. Chrystal handed the child over to Sydney without incident and asssited with gathering the child's carseat and

“I agree with Ms. Krejci that the entire file should have been disclosed with the publics record request, but that does not make it discoverable.” Feeney said. “I understand her frustration that she wasn 't given the same information that another defense attorney was. When I discovered what had happened, which was in august, I immediately requested the entire file from the Phoenix Police Department so that I could disclose it to the defense council. I didn’t do that because I believed that the information was discoverable or relevant. I did it as a professional courtesy. The historical treatment of domestic violence has essentially undermined its importance in child custody decisions. Historically, the courts viewed domestic violence as a family matter, an issue for the parties involved to work out things on their own. The courts also upheld a husband's right to administer any type of punishment to his family, short of death or permanent injury. After all, no matter how you might feel about your child’s other parent personally; you want what’s best for your child. You also want to ensure that you stay connected to your child and maintain the relationship you value with them, no matter what happens with regard to your former relationship with their mom or dad. Therefore, when you are facing a breakup and have minor children who will be affected, it’s wise to become familiar with the child custody laws in Ohio:

Child custody is a difficult and sensitive matter. During the disputes people go through multiple interviews, background checks, and other privacy invading matters. Child custody evaluations are need when parents are divorcing. This is all done in order to obtain custody of one or more children. The children do not have to be the parents biological children in order to be able to fight for custody of the child. In the evaluations multiple factors are taken into consideration. Through the entire process the most important aspect about the outcome of the evaluations, is that the child’s best interest is always the main factor. Child custody evaluations attempt to investigate and find the best situation for the child between the parties fighting over custody.
