Who can people trust in dire times. Many people don’t believe they have someone to fall back on. Family has this position covered. for example “Chee’s daughter”, “Catch the moon”, and “Two kinds”, family takes the stage. Particularly all of these stories show that people need to believe in what they have for support. Family will always be there. In fact, in “Chee’s daughter” there is a prime example of his daughter never giving up on him. Another key point is when people have no family to fall back on, their life falls apart. For this example, “Catch the moon” is a perfect story. A point often overlooked is that family can be to hard on some people. As a matter of fact, “Two kinds” is the epitome of this saying. With heritage in mind, Chee understands his daughter must go to his wife's father. Just because they are supposed to he puts up a fight. He realizes his daughter was his whole world. Chee would do anything to get his daughter back. From The Little Ones view, she must have seen how hard her father was trying to get her back. With this in mind, the story represents family always having each other's backs. Next, "Catch the Moon" shows a strained relationship between a father, and a son.
In "Catch the Moon" by Judith Ortiz Cofer, Louis is a troubled son. After the death of his mother, he breaks inside. He believes showing emotions will make him less of a person. His father, while dealing with his own problems, doesn't connect with Louis. As Louis struggles, he doesn't have someone to vent to. With these bottled up emotions Louis turns to crime. Family will always be there. If Louis's father would have talked to him, things would have turned out differently. Without family, people fall
