Jesus esparza American heritage 2314.27 May 6, 2015 Andrew Norwood’s Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma, Arizona on March 31,1927 and died on April 23, 1993. Cesar Chávez was a leader and businessman to the people in my opinion. He seek for a better working community and a better paying program for the migrants he established a minimum wage for the farm working people. Chavez helped them to see the way to a better productive life by improving their working conditions and by showing them how to do it for themselves working together as a union led them to a better working community. Asians farmers were a threat to the U.S they where swept out of the U.S and new farmers came in. The Hispanics took over the farm industry Cesar Chavez was one of them he dropped out of school to work like a Hispanic does. Cesar was willing to sacrifice his own life so that the union would continue and that violence was not used. Cesar fasted many times. In 1968 Cesar went on a water only, 25 day fast. He repeated the fast in 1972 for 24 days, and again this time for 36 days. He said, Farm workers everywhere are angry and worried that we cannot win without violence. We have proved it before through persistence, hard work, faith and willingness to sacrifice. Everything he did was “La Cause “ he established an organization national farm workers later it became united farm workers, he raised the minimum wage for farmers, he made people think positive and strive for a better working community. It was Founded in 1962 by Chavez, the United Farm Workers of America is the nation's first successful and largest farm workers union currently active in 10 states. The UFW continues to organize in major agricultural industries across the nation. As a leader and businessman he faught for the farming civil rights, Hispanic farmers was his main focus. “La Raza” (Mexican heritage people) these people admired chavez for everything he did, La raza helped chaves do the national farm worker cause of these people nothing wouldn’t be possible. Theses people were farmers hard working men and women that Monday through Sunday they worked all day and bust some ass for a couple of dollars but people don’t appreciated what they did especially the gringos(white farm owners).
