In July 2011, Ryan Holiday was reading an interesting article on Slate.com about Lindsay Lohan. She was in the news because she has posted a message on Twitter warning all of her users about the rise of inflation and the danger of the federal government. Lindsay had been paid to create this message and put it on Twitter so it would go viral. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the ethical violations that are at play within the media and how blogs writers are being tricked into using false information about celebrities and how the people behind the false information are making money from the media attention. According to the definition provided by Marriam Webster Dictionary (1828) fake news is frequently used to describe a political story which is seen as damaging to an agency, entity, or person. This is unethical because it can hurt their relationship between their personal life like their own family members and also their reputation with their fans. People care because they are popular and want to be informed of what happens in the life of the celebrity’s day by day, but it can affect because in some cases it can cause a divorce. One ethical principles that could be put in danger is privacy, ethical because of the unreasonably placing another person in a false light before the public. Also, the ethical implication of not fact-checking or verifying the information.
