Situation analysis This case replicates the problem between economic development of the country by constructing dam and protecting the bhavnath temple, interest of people as it is a religious place. This issue arises when India got independence in 1947and thus central and provincial government focused on economic development of the nation. A proposal was province by undivided Bombay to construct earthen dams across the rivers lokmata and sadmata in the northern part of Gujarat. This would result in submerge and resettlement of 8 villages out of 20. It was difficult task to provide shelter and source of income to all the villagers. Objectives The objective of this case was economic development of the nation by constructing dams which would lead into increase in agricultural production. To protect the interest of people by not demolishing the bhavnath temple. Options Execution of first plan should be done or temple should be shifted to some another place in order to continue with new plan. Option evaluation In the execution of first plan it increases the irrigation facilities and consequently increase in agricultural production by protecting the beliefs and interest of people regarding bhavnath temple. The CONS of this plan is economic development will be in slow pace as well as they need to provide new shelter and source of livelihood for the people of 8 villages who are displaced. Decision According to me, the decision relevant to this case is to construct the dam according to first plan itself as it leads to economic development and protecting the bhavnath temple so that villagers don’t oppose the construction of dam.
