I am applying for the CCCSFAAA scholarship. I am the first one in my family to attend college. As an independent student, without my parents' support, I had to work to support myself. Life is not easy for the new immigrant. When I just come to the United States, English is my second language, I am not fluent in English, I can only do some low-income job. Later, I find out that I need more education and improve my English, so I go to ELAC. This is the 4th year I am in ELAC. The first 3 years, I work full time and go to school part time. However, due to the schedule of some classes, and I want to transfer to a university earlier, I quit my full-time job and try to spend more time on education. Once I owned a computer I realized that there are a lot of things I can do with computers besides gaming. Nowadays, computers are so important to our jobs and lives. This influenced me to want to get a job working with computers. Computers make our life easier and more convenient. Something that cannot happen before, now with computer skills, everything seems to be possible. Engineers have the potential to turn dreams into reality, which is why I decided to major in Computer Engineering. I want to be a computer programmer to make new app, or be a hardware engineer to design new devices to serve the society. My plan is after I graduated from ELAC, I want to transfer to Cal Poly Pomona. I want to go to a school that focus on hands-on project, connected with the job market, not theory. At that time, I will still be a full-time student, part-time worker. In order to get a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, I will spend most of my time at campus; learn as much as I can about engineering. If I have a better education, I can contribute more to people's life.
