Feet are a very important component of the human body because of the virtual function they play of ensuring mobility. Care and protection is important in ensuring healthy feet. Consider the following points in giving care to your feet.

Wear appropriate shoes.
Wearing the wrong type of shoes can cause deformities such as bunions, ingrown toe nails, cross over toes, hammer toes, corns and cracked heels. Avoid these by;

Not wearing high heeled shoes for a long period of time as this leads to back, spine, and neck injuries. Flat shoes on the other hand lead to ankle, heel, and arch pains as they lack support. So avoid these as well.

Treat fungal infections.
Fungal infections can cause discomfort and embarrassment especially when there is odor. Infections such as athletes foot and nail fungus arise from keeping feet in moist conditions for a long time and poor hygiene. These infections can be treated using over the counter anti fungal creams, gels and nail polish. Dry your feet well especially between toes and wear a clean pair of socks before wearing shoes.

Exercise your feet.
Sitting or standing for long is bad for your feet. Go for walks, jog or run outside or indoors using a treadmill. Exercising your feet also improves blood circulation.

Maintain a healthy diet.
Eat foods rich in vitamin A. This helps revive skin tissue, vitamin E for smooth skin, vitamin C which protects from wrinkles or cracks, zinc for wound healing, and omega 3 fatty acids for blood circulation.

Pain and swelling.
Seek medical intervention whenever there is swelling and pain in the feet. This could be a sign of an underlining health problem such as heart, liver, or kidney disease. Other causes can be infections, injury and fluid retention, side effects of medication, lymph edema and blood
