Is it practical to not have a backup plan for your business? It could mean taking a boring nine-to-five job after failing a new venture. Recovering from a disaster and planning be the continuation of your business is not something that is only done one time either. It is continuous. A backup plan is only as good as your ability to recover from the downfall. Some people may use the phrase “Plan B” in our personal lives, but it is important to have a back-up plan when it comes to business. In corporate America, this is known as a business contingency plan (BCP). The planning process for this should take an “all hazards”

UPS has continued its strong marketing efforts in overnight and deferred air services. Both of these carriers have introduced information systems, which include user-friendly Internet interfaces. The carriers have also expanded logistical services and improved integration with customer supply chains.
Cost cutting; Technology plays a significant part in package delivery companies capability to assist customers in cutting their inventories which UPS owns. The UPS system processes packages using advanced information technology and are transported by the companies’ own aircraft, fleet or delivery vehicle so UPS does not rely on other companies.
Conclusion Overall, the consequences of not having a Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan can become costly in the event of a disaster. Most companies will find themselves in financial disarray when having to rebuild and/or replace any portions of the IT infrastructure that were destroyed during a disaster event. Hence, companies invest in insurance to cover such costs; however, there must be a balance because even with insurance an organization may still incur high expenses. Having a good disaster recovery and business continuity plan will keep your company up and running through any kind of interruptions such as power failures, IT system crashes, natural or man-made disasters, supply chain/vendor problems and more.
Wi-Fi (Wireless Network) or 802.11 networking is a phenomenal way of providing Internet wirelessly at a low cost. Using radio waves, a wireless network connects a PC, mobile phone or just about anything that connects to the internet wirelessly by a router. By transmitting signals at 2.4 or 5 GHz it allows the waves to transmit more data at a faster rate. Typical Wi-Fi standards are 802.11a, b, g, n, or ac and they can switch up the frequency depending on the model (Brain). Families can create their own wireless network that can be shared between family members without the use of hooking all their devices up to the modem and can also protect their home network from potential hackers with the use of a TKIP or AES encryption. Businesses can also create a “hotspot” which is an area that has wireless networks for free or at a set fee. This is extremely convenient for commuters that need internet access while they are at work, waiting on a plane, or just sitting at a coffee spot without the need for wires(Cox).
Business today is inextricably intertwined with technology, from the smallest home office, to a multinational corporation with multiple monolithic legacy application. It is impossible to be in business today without confronting the issues of technology. The way we do business today is different than 30 years ago. Technology has evolved around the areas of telecommunication, travel, stock market, shipping even around our daily lives. E-commerce a system by which people can buy, sell and deal without even seeing the person on the other side has taken a front seat in improving the economy of countries around the world. Technology today has made it possible for monetary institutions to help locate the customers resources and help solve their problems at any given time through online banking. The Internet, a boon to all business, is playing a part of a catalyst; it links millions of customers to its suppliers and vice versa due to this, manufactures are able to cut the role of middlemen and are able to deal with the customers, giving them the ability for direct input from the customers about their choices and views of their product. Technology can displace numerous examples of workers in service industries. Shop fronts such as banking, real estate, travel and many more, are disappearing. Small retail food outlets continue to collapse, with the growing supermarkets and food chains organized around computer technology, and on- line shopping from home. An even completely automated home-computerized service such as a hardware and software package called “Jeeves” is now available. Business management and company directors are finding voice activated lap top computer secretaries far more reliable and efficient than the human
Computers are forever present in the workplace. Word processors-computer software packages that simplify the creational and modification of documents-have largely replaced the typewriter. Electronic mail has made it easy to send messages worldwide via computer communication networks. Office automation has become the term for linking workstations, printers, database system, and other tools by means of a local-area network. An eventual goal of office automation has been termed the 'paperless office.' Although such changes ultimately make office work much more efficient, they have not been without cost in terms of purchasing and frequently upgrading the necessary hardware and software and of training workers to use the new technology.
In the first place, computer technology can not only improved quality of working but also enhance student’s learning. In the modern society, computer technology becomes more popular in many companies. The reason is that it is able to improve working efficiency and quality. If every worker has abilities to operate and use computer technology, they can save more time to do another things. This means individuals can spend less time on working to do the same quantity of works as before. Most importantly, improving working efficiency and quality is favorable for business operating in the future. For example, more and more companies like to use digital technology to analysis their data. Digital technology is a kind of computer technology that is always used in business. The information created by digital technology and used by others will grow faster than anything else. The Economist reported in 2010 that data management and analytics are worth more than $100 billion and are growing at almost 10% a year, roughly twice as fast as the software business as a whole (Orange, 2014). This is a dramatic increase in working efficiency that is caused by computer technology. Besides, computer technology could also be used to predict further performance of a company, which is
Advances in technology have changed businesses dramatically, in particular the communication and information technology that are conducted in firms, which changed the appearance and pace of businesses over the past few decades. ICT in particular, has evolved a lot over the past 30 years; important information can be stored in computers rather than being in drawers enabling information to be transferred at a greater volume and speed (Guy, 2009). ICT has also expanded various forms of telecommunications and workload conducted in businesses, internet examples of this include: e-mails can be used to communicate with others...
