The person needs support naturally, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. At this devastating time a hand up is needed, not a hand down nor criticism looking down on the individual. Another concern this paper will address is; How to Build Self-worth After Homelessness? The Effectiveness of Spirituality and Strength during the period of homeless women have used spirituality as strength. Women in the study explained how Faith was an inner consciousness for belief in a God that endured despite adversity (Gulbrandsen & Walsh, (2014). Another concern with this population is building self-worth after homelessness self-worth is regained by the individual's willingness to show appreciation to those person that are lending a helping
Homelessness is a social issue that has been overlooked for too long. It can be observed in many states worldwide. The rising population of homeless people affects those characterized as homeless, their families subjected to the lifestyle, and the communities where homelessness exists. There are many solutions but only a few will be discussed. Improving existing shelters and building new shelters are general solutions. More in depth solutions within the shelters include programs that assist the homeless with opportunities for re-entry into the community. I would first like to discuss reasons why this issue should be looked into and conclude with recommendations.

...on the homeless community. I previously held preconceived notions that the homeless consisted of people who were either unable to connect and form relationships with others or didn’t desire to do so. Yet, I observed most everyone greeting one another and reminiscing with those who have been absent from the community for a while, as well as, expressing concern for those missing. I recognized that the homeless may live in a non-traditional way, but they have established their own communities and are successful in forming and maintaining cohesive relationships.

Many believe that a common thread among the homeless is a lack of permanent and stable housing. But beyond that, the factors leading to homelessness and the services that are needed are unique according to the individual. To put them into one general category ? the homeless- suggests that people are homeless for similar reasons and therefore a single solution is the answer. Every homeless person shares the basic needs of affordable housing, adequate incomes and attainable healthcare. But a wide range of other unmet needs cause some people to become or remain homeless which include drug treatment, employment training, transportation, childcare and mental health services (Center 8.)
Homelessness can happen to anyone unexpectedly. Many poor people are at the risk of homelessness. The cost of living and trying to find affordable housing can be very difficult. Many who are homeless are in poverty, have a mental illness, or addictions. Homelessness happens from personal, as well as structural factors. Many aren’t able to make enough for rent, as well as, utilities, food, and other expenses each month. More than 6 million Americans pay more than half of their income towards rent (Reamer, 1989). The trend is once someone becomes homeless, it is likely they will be homeless repeatedly. To end homelessness, affordable housing will have to be created because it is peoples largest single expenditure (Anderson, 2013).
Encouragement from one 's community plays a significant role in the ability to overcome homelessness; without such motivation from peers, a lack of trust and confidence can occur, lowering their self-esteem and want to get out of homelessness. Through the article, Homelessness: Perception of Causes and Solutions, written by Lindsay Phillips, the study shows the way in which those within a community perceive the homeless, and their inability, or the inability they believe they possess, to benefit the community as a whole, this Phillips calling a stigma. Addressing the idea of social biases. Where those not conformed to society, seem to pose a threat to the rest, believing that without a roof over your head you 're inadequately qualified to hold a job.

.... The homeless community is a growing problem that only worsens with time. If we don’t make an effort now, to help the most vulnerable among us, then we are only contributing to this problem. With our unsure economy, nothing is guaranteed, so just be considerate for others who are in an inferior situation, because who knows when you might need a hand.
Here in Tahoe, we are lucky enough to experience a great quality of life, and only a few have to face the horrible life of poverty and homelessness. However, nationwide, even right outside the basin, homelessness is a growing epidemic across the country. There are many ways one can become homeless; for the most part poverty. There are also different concentrations of homeless in different types of terrain, such as urban or suburban areas. Last, there is the ever- growing homeless population, and how much money it costs us for others to live in poverty. These are the questions we ask ourselves about homelessness, and the only way we can help is to know the facts about this lingering subject.
In the United States, more than 3.5 million people experience homelessness each year for an average time of eight months (Students Against Hunger, 2015). Economic, political, and social factors play role in homelessness. Among economic factors are: lack of affordable housing, low incomes, and lack of affordable medical care. An example of political factor can be the fact that cuts in federal assistance for housing programs and social services coincided with the rise in homelessness in the U.S. Among social aspects are medical factors, such as mental illness, drug addiction, and alcoholism and lack of access to affordable health care services (Students Against Hunger, 2015).

Homelessness is a problem which has been caused by many different aspects but mainly money because of massive unemployment rates. A hidden aspect to homelessness that we may not think of is ...
Lastly, the strategy encourages people to extend their concern and support to homeless individuals by making contributions to help them meet their daily basic needs. People can contribute a variety of items, including clothing, household goods, books, and immaterial items, such as job opportunities and trainings (Miller, Hess, & Orthmann, 2011). This is important in the sense that it brings comfort to homeless persons.
Occasionally, we have had to deal with watching our friends struggle. By the time we summon the courage to take action or offer help, it is often too late.
