There was a time where Britney Spears' notable achievements became a TMZ photograph of her shaving her hair off. Nine years and five so-called comebacks later, she introduces her ninth studio album, 'Glory,' to a new age of music aficionados where the 17-track LP becomes an immaculate production filled with above-mentioned strings, Southern horns and sinister lyrics about love and lust. From the cosmic-fillings of dream pop in the Cashmere Cat-produced record, 'Just Luv Me,' to the millennial booty call anthem, 'Do You Want To Come Over?' - the overall notion of the album becomes bizarrely electrifying. It wouldn't be a Britney record if the sizzling melodies wouldn't be pressed against our minds as the lyrics became pin metaphors of her urging
I have selected Britney Spears as my subject for the reason that I realize that she has been through so much in her life and has a tendency to convey her emotions radically and live life on the edge most of the times. Moreover, I find it simply fascinating to scrutinize Britney Spears’ personality by means of the Psychoanalysis so as to offer deeper comprehension in investigating her personality. Even though this process of personality analysis is hardly ever employed today due to a deficiency of empirical verification and a disappointment to deal with any adulthood impact on personality, the approach’s stress on childhood development is a long way from without foundation. It permits for a fascinating and vibrant examination of personality as it imparts a comprehensive description of why Britney’s id conquers her ego and superego in a majority of her decisions, as well as reciting her fixations within the oral stage of the psychosexual development. By exploring her defense mechanisms, from a spectator’s view it is apparent that she stays clear of anxiety-provoking stimuli by means of warping reality to her own terms. Taken as a whole, this assessment of Britney Spears’s personality does an excellent work via the psychoanalytic perspective as means to reveal/display a lucid conception of her outlook on the world and the connections with her relationships as to why she is this way at the moment.
“Wrecking Ball” is pop ballad sung by the American recoding artist Miley Cyrus. Once known and adored by many as “Hannah Montana”, Cyrus shed her childish shell and adopted a sexualized and edgy persona for her fourth album, Bangerz, which “Wrecking Ball” is the album’s second single. The song starts with a quiet and minimalist synthesized keyboard instrumentation which is immediately met with the anguished vocals of Cyrus. Even in the first 30 seconds where only 26 words were sung, the topic of the song is quite evident: a failing relationship. Cyrus starts by crooning “We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain, we jumped never asking why, we kissed, I fell under your spell. A love no one could deny” which could be interpreted as two lovers fought to be together and succeeded in doing so but it was ultimately useless as denoted by “we chained our hearts in vain”. As the song progresses the minimalist keyboard continues creating an open environment in which Cyrus’ emotive vocals can shine. When the refrain is introduced Cyrus’ vocals and the keyboard instrumentation briefly disappear and when they reemerge they are joined with booming percussion that hits sharply, then slowly dissipates. Cyrus’ vocal delivery also changes from the softer, anguished sound to a powerful, almost vindictive roar which quickly returns to the soft delivery with a quiver as Cyrus sings “Yeah, you, yo...
Diane Sawyer is an American television journalist who started her career after attending college. Her career started small, at a local news station in Kentucky then took off as she picked up jobs at the White House and more. Sawyer’s has been named one of the most influential women for journalism for her many accomplishments.
Miley Cyrus is the girl that no one can stop discussing now. She has transformed herself from a naïve, Disney idol to a pop figure that society now perceives in a luminous way. Back in 2010, Miley was engaged in a film by the name “The Last Song,” and, at the same time, advancing her third studio album “Can’t Be Tamed.” This happened in an effort to cross the rift from an influential pop star to a pop celebrity. Her prior extensive play, “The Time of Our Lives (2009),” which mainly depicts the happenings in a smash party, in the United States, was commercially successful, but failed to ascertain Miley as a stern, adult artist (Yalda and Greenfield 84). The album “Can’t Be Tamed” set out to play a similar role by tra...
His early albums The College Dropout and Late Registration revived the use of soul samples in hip hop, and 808s & Heartbreak played a pivotal role in popularizing AutoTune-driven R&B, as well as promoting sensitivity and emotion in hip hop artists. Later albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Yeezus were undeniable classics, showcasing West at the top of his game; these were elaborate projects where West’s antihero archetype ruled over mayhem, where minimalism met maximalism and the differences between high art and hip hop were harder to discern than ever before. These themes recur throughout the album, but in fractured shorthand: what truly makes The Life of Pablo a special album is the miniature themes that West uses to color between the lines. This album is a million different moods at a million different times; Kanye is subdued and tortured on “FML”, triumphant and raunchy on “No More Parties In LA”, and engagingly honest on “30 Hours”, where he spends the last half of the song throwing out sentences in a stream-of-consciousness manner.
In today’s world, celebrities are often misunderstood, especially singer/songwriter Robin Rihanna Fenty, referred to as Rihanna. Rihanna’s sexual behaviors in her videos have been talked about in negative ways for some time now, but what [eople do not understand is that it is all for fame. Celebrities will do anything to keep their career going strong. If one really took the time out to take a deep look at Rihanna, they will notice how humble she really is. After going through the abusive relationship with Chris Brown, Rihanna has struggled with gaining that strong confidence with who she is. Her critics believe that she is still trying to discover herself and figure out who she really is as a person. Rihanna is often given two choices, to do what she is being asked to do, or throw her career out the window. She either gives the crowd the sexual acts they want or let her career die down. In the song “S&M,” Rihanna was really exposing herself to the crowd, as well as “Good Girl, Gone Bad.” She is basically telling the crowd that this is the person she is, but is it really? For my original piece I will be creating a journal, expressing the feelings Rihanna felt as she overcomes her struggles. Rihanna’s sexual behaviors in her videos are really all for fame and therefore, are easily misunderstood.
The Clash’s third studio album, 1979’s “London Calling,” was arguably one of the greatest musical achievements of the late ‘70s and almost certainly the most significant contribution offered by the punk rock movement to rock as a whole, a contribution acknowledged not only by those who take punk seriously as a genre, but also by mainstream music critics—“Rolling Stone” magazine placed the album at number eight on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time . “London Calling” is full of genre-defining (and genre-defying, for that matter) material and outstanding songwriting, but one track in particular truly stands out as the album’s most prophetic, haunting, and influential. It makes sense, then, that the album was titled “London Calling” after this most compelling song.
Tupac Shakur is one of the most influential artists of all time, regardless of genre. Tupac only lived for 25 years, as he was killed in a drive by shooting outside of a Las Vegas casino, which was allegedly the result of a feud between two rap groups. Tupac’s music has always cast a long shadow across the hip hop music industry, because his lyrics discussed deep and meaningful issues that his community was dealing with during his life time. The songs that I have selected to break down, in the ways they relate to and portray women during this time, are “Brenda’s got a baby,” “Dear Mama,” and “keep ya head up.” The lyrics, and stories that are discussed in these songs are extremely relatable and are example of why Tupac was able to rise to prominence,
Fashion trends, technology trends, and finally music trends define an a time. However these trends never focus on is how some of our top artist today are the most annoying, untalented singers of their generation. These so called talented famous people have taken abuse of today’s society by manipulating the ethos of the teens and children. These “role models” have just become plastic robots that no longer convey meaningful messages but thrive on the fame and fortune. In 2012 one of the most nationally hated songs was Rebecca Black’s Friday. This one-hit wonder, produce this single not based on her talent but on her family’s money, hoping to turn her into a pop star. However, it seems that all that money could have been put to use elsewhere like singing lessons, as a result, her single turned out to be an extremely autotuned song. Though it does not stop there. In her single she sung in such a nasal tone that it would haunt her for the rest of her career. Critics say even now that her voice is still heard by was in no way pleasant and many criticized her for having absolutely no talent in singing.
In 2001, things started taking a turn in the wrong direction. Britney Spears performed her new single, “I'm a Slave 4 U” at the MTV Video Music Awards (“Britney Spears”). She wore an incredibly petite costume with a python around her neck. The act caused some controversy with her critics and fans. Spears showed a different side of her when she produced and performed the song. Fast forwarding to 2004, she married her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, but ended
From the onset, Applause becomes the manifestation of McIntyre’s “confluence-based approach where it is seen that multiple factors must coalesce for creative activity to emerge” (McIntyre). Gaga’s past experiences with the influence of pop music on art in Russia and her involvement with artists such as Koons coupled with her perception of pop music as an art form drove her thinking towards the composition of the song, and especially the making of the video. Nonetheless, she strived to break from the constraints of the social context of pop culture, not only in Applause but in all her songs. This break from convention is why some critics don’t take to her music very fondly, the kind of critic she mentions on the track. Her break from the rigidity of composition and standard structure, however, is likely a representation of a deeper psychological and subconscious break from the limitations of her psyche and her perceptive comfort zone. In effect, Gaga breaks from McIntyre’s “constraints”, avoids regenerating “antecedent conditions provided by the inherited tradition, domain or field of works of contemporary western popular music,” and still manages to create a “unique variation [or] a valued addition to the domain of contemporary western popular music”
“Holy Shit I was so drunk that I did not even know I was married” Those exact words were uttered by Mrs. Spears just hours after she was joined in matrimony to her child hood friend. What the fuck, who in gods name gets married, especially when there drunk. At what point would the normal person say Wha, Wha, What the god-damn shit loving hell, what am I doing? No you ass hole priest I don’t, you hear me? I fucking don’t. Her spokes woman came out and said they were two kids who were having a fun time in Las Vegas. That’s NOT a reasonable reason, that’s not even close to reasonable! Nobody and I mean NOBODY gets married for fun; I don’t care how drunk you are. The truth is that there are two possibilities as to why this would happen. The first is that Miss. Spears may not fucking normal. Don’t even dare ask me who normal is. Anyway this would be a stretch for anyone other than her and Madonna, so it’s obviously not the reason that she was wed. The other and more probable reason is that she was looking for a quick pick-me-up for her career. Ok she was hot in seventh grade, before she was rammed by Justin. Once we learned she lost her virginity her career was over. Every guy in this country said “son of a bitch” when they learned she had her cherry popped. With her latest release of “toxic” she has effectively stuck the stake in to the coffin of her career.
I have not had a single accomplishment that is worth writing about but I feel that my college completion will be one accomplishment that I will be most proud. I feel that I am taking one step forward in life that will make me become a more successful person.
Marilyn Monroe once said “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” People believe that pop music in this era is vain, conceited and much more. In The Guardian, Simon Armitage stated "Or songs are not poems, I should say. In fact, songs are often bad poems. Take the music away and what you're left with is often an awkward piece of creative writing full of lumpy syllables, cheesy rhymes, exhausted cliches and mixed metaphors."(Wheeler 1). Though, songs have come a long way and still thrive with poetic devices within them and have a deeper meaning than what people say about them. The song “Scars to your beautiful” by Alessia Cara is an equal art form to the poem “Beauty, Inside And Out” by Camacy Melville using the poetic terms of comparisons, repetition, and the tone.
During my life I had some accomplishments. But, I will tell you the truth I cannot call them as my great accomplishments. At this point of my life I had the two greatest events. My first event was my high school graduation. The second event, which was the biggest and the most unforgettable was my wedding day.
