Introduction to Brides Magazine and Demographics
Brides provides various articles and ads targeted to those getting married or those interested in marriage. When flipping through the pages, the ads dominate the magazine, and they largely showcase wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, suits, rings, bouquets, and wedding venues. While rarer to be seen in the magazine, there are a few articles that provide some insight into the magazines’ choice for ideal weddings. These ideal weddings include Kate Upton’s and Meghan Markle. Both have their names featured on the magazine’s cover page, while Kate Upton’s wedding photos with her bridesmaids is the cover photo.

However, the major difference was that bridesmaids are never featured on their own. The same concept applies the groom and the groomsmen. These individuals are either photographed together with the bride or with each other. The magazine almost makes it seem like that it’s a requirement for those who are not the bride to conform. It appears that bridesmaids, grooms, and the groomsmen must be committed to their groups and the brides in order for the wedding to be successful. This conformity can be observed through the outfits that these individuals wear. Most of the advertisements for bridesmaids’ dresses have each dress in the same color. Some of these dresses can have variation in style, but the women typically hold the same bouquet and face the same direction (Brides, 73).
