Have you ever been faced with a problem and wondered why it has to happen to you? Well, many women today ask themselves this same question, “Why me?” when diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer is a type of cancer that has affected millions of women around the world. It causes over 41,000 deaths per year and is the most commonly diagnosed cancer, according to ASCO Cancer. Breast cancer needs to be cured soon so that women don’t have to fight so hard. Breast cancer is one of the most devastating things that women today face and doctors and scientists should make curing breast cancer a top priority of their profession.
Women all over the world are suffering as cancer is still yet to be cured. Treating breast cancer is very expensive as it uses some of the highest quality devices. Breast cancer usually needs to be cured by multiple rounds of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. These types of treatments are very costly, especially when they have to be done more than once, which is very common. On average, “the estimates of lifetime per-patient costs of breast cancer ranged from $US 20,000 to $US 100,000” ( Hutchinson, 1). Breast cancer is a very expensive cancer, especially since patients have to pay money at unpredictable times. It isn’t fair for people to have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars over and over again for something so awful. Breast cancer costs don’t only include chemotherapy and surgeries, but they also include things like prosthetics, special clothing, special care, and dietary needs. Added together these can cost a lot of money. If breast cancer would be cured, many people wouldn’t be in over their heads with bills and would be able to live
