Born good or evil?

In William Goulding’s novel, Lord of the Flies , it shows how over a span of six days; a group of boys that had crash landed on an island. They turned against their civil ways. This shows that man’s capacity for evil is very diverse, and I believe that all men (and women) were born evil. We teach eachother how to behave to cover up our evil intentions but nobody has ever had to teach us how to be bad.
From the very start while Ralph was still civilized he made fun of Piggy. For example,”sucks to your ass-mar”(Goulding,ch.1)!Ralph made fun of Piggy’s asthma attacks; nobody had to teach Ralph to make fun of Piggy, he just did. Another example from the novel was,”they used to call me ‘Piggy’. Ralph shrieked with laughter.He jumped. Piggy!Piggy”(Goulding,ch.1)! Ralph was mean to Piggy. One he revealed that the name Piggy hurt his feelings, Ralph immediately started making fun. In conclusion,even the most civil character had some type of evilin him.

Eleanor says that it was only six days until the boys turned savage,”How long did it take for mere friction to escalate into a juvenile war, in an idyllic setting where everyone had plenty of food? Phase two lasted just six days from the first insult(“Fatty!”) to the final all-out brawl”(Learmonth,2). This explains that the boys turned savage not for survival, but because they were simply irritated with each others insults.
