The Book of Eli is filled with unforgettable, combative scenes and thought-provoking dilemmas the characters endure. This film can be placed into a variety of genres but the main one is drama. This movie is one with many messages regarding problems that occur in past and present society. For instance, women are displayed as sexualized objects under the control of men like Carnegie. Thus, Solara and her mother live in constant fear under the rule of Carnegie and his men. The movie also sheds light on corrupted power. Carnegie and his men rule over the desperate people using fear, knowledge, and power. Instead of using his rank to improve the conditions of his town, Carnegie chooses to use all his resources to find the Holy Bible. Many of the characters in this film also experience a loss of humane morals, which is something that has appeared throughout history. Incidences such as cannibalism, rape, and cruelty are generally frowned upon in society, yet some of the characters are quick to execute these horrid actions.
