CONSERVATION POLICIES The Boca Raton Museum of Art and its mission requires the proper care of its collection. The museum will adhere to the highest standards of conservation towards its collections. A safe and appropriate environment is created in the building to preserve our collections for many generations to come. The purpose of the Conservation Policy to ensure that the Boca Raton Museum of Art fulfills it’s to duties to care and preserve collections and items on loan.
Insurance
The museum carries a blanket fine arts insurance policy to cover its collections. Borrowers will pay a pro-rated amount for each item out on loan, unless there is a reciprocal loan in place. The museum’s insurance policy does not apply to unsolicited items, abandoned items, or staff’s personal collection. Every three years, the museum Board of Directors and the Collections Management team will review the insurance policy to ensure the best coverage is obtained for collections and for borrowed items. …show more content…

The collections department has established an environmental management program to minimize the risks and damage from environmental and biological conditions. The environmental management program encompasses all temperature settings, humidity controls, pest control, mold mitigation, and lighting controls. The Boca Raton Museum of Art provides climate controlled storage for safe object storage. The area is dusted and vacuumed on a weekly basis. Temperature and humidity levels are closely monitored. All requirements are met regarding security, light, and temperature. Research is conducted to provide the optimal conditions for all objects. The collections team ensures that the latest technologies and conservation techniques are employed to protect all objects. Additionally, the area is monitored with regular pest control service.
