Biomedical Personal Statement

At the cellular level, the human body is the most complex, largest & efficiently organised system that has no comparison. Only through this course will I gain invaluable experiences and opportunities, such as participation in the use of advanced Imaging technologies (an example is MRI and Vivo ultrasound system) to investigate what it is that separates living things and objects, the organisation of cells & their structure.
The study of Biomedical Sciences provides the means to explore my curiosity & to find significance to the world we live in. I was first drawn into the study of biology when I witnessed the dissection of an elephant’s corpse & this sparked my curiosity to understand what it is that makes humans so different to other species. Reading books such as ‘human’ by Robert Winston, and ‘Inside the Body’ by Susan Greenfield gave me a liking towards the use of technology in examining the problems with a human’s body. It is my personal goal to develop a vaccine that does not include the use of a sharp needle, as many people refuse to have a needle penetrate their skin. The recent production of needle-less vaccines called …show more content…

This is evident as I have analysed several written and visual sources plus case studies to find reliability and evidence that support a range of arguments, which I believe will be useful for studying Biomedical Science.
The quality of life on earth is highly dependent on Biomedical Sciences, and I believe that I am fit to carry out such a responsible role. Involving myself in preclinical research, specifically in pathology, immunology and cancer biology, will expand my knowledge of the human body in an advanced manner, in terms of molecular levels. For example, I am drawn to research in how viruses attack a cell internally, such as the Spanish flu pandemic, which killed over 50 million people in
