While still in high school, before I even decided on which university I wanted to attend, I knew I wanted to study abroad and explore another country’s rich history and culture. Currently, I have never been outside of the United States, and while I love my country, I have always aspired to travel outside of it and pursue my passion for traveling. Being able to study my major of biology in another country with an exciting and different ecosystem would be an opportunity of a lifetime for me, and it would allow me to explore and appreciate the study of life in a contrasting and diverse ecosystem from what I am used to. The biology classes I take during the summer at Universidad Veritas would help me to fulfill some of my required biology elective requirements that are required for me to graduate with an undergraduate degree in biology, and it would also give me a chance to practice the Spanish I have learned while completing my beginning Spanish courses at Truman State University. Going to Costa Rica to continue my education would also provide me with a chance to explore my education from a new perspective by immersing myself in the Costa Rican culture. The experience abroad in a new country would also aid me in developing skills such as adapting to a new culture, learning to communicate in a foreign language by utilizing my Spanish, and encouraging me to be more independent by pushing me outside of my comfort zone.
