Do you know what prejudice truly stands for? Prejudice means “an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason” (“prejudice”). Some types of prejudice are racial discrimination, age discrimination, and gender discrimination (McLeod). The people who are responsible for a person to be prejudice are the families of these people. Families determine people’s attitudes towards religions and cause people to be prejudice (“Chapter 2”). Prejudice has been evident throughout history from African Americans since their arrival, to Jewish and other people persecuted during the Holocaust, whereas bullying occurs from migrant workers, the handicapped and even everyday people.
Primarily, there are several cases that were unfair and didn’t do justice to colored people. One example is the Plessey vs. Ferguson case. Plessey was arrested for sitting in a white person car, although he was mixed from one white and one black parent (“Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896)”). Plessey’s lawyer argued that the case violated the 13th and 14th amendment, but in the end Plessey lost because he was legally black (“Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896)”). Although there were many injustice moves towards blacks, there were also very influential black men and women too. The most famous black man between 1895-1915 was Booker T. Washington (PBS). He once said, “In all things that are purely social, we can be as separate as the finger, yet one as the hand in all things essential to neutral progress” (PBS).

...on opportunities that the average white child gets (“Our Focus”). This organization is also trying to decrease African American unemployment rates (“Our Focus”). Basically, Community Change is trying to equalize the life of African Americans and Latinos to the life of whites or Caucasians.
For the reasons above, racism is not okay. We have the case wear Homer Plessy had to go to jail for sitting in a white car. Than there was people being killed and persecuted because of the religion they followed. One of the most common forms of prejudice is bullying, where kids are getting bullied because they are different than others. It is a good thing that organizations like Community Change have taken the lead in combating racism. I think that all of this is unfair and unjust and more organizations, like Community Change, need ot start working to improve conditions.
Throughout the course of American history, there have been many historical figures who have been responsible for, or were a part of the gradual change of our nation. In the early to mid 1900's, the United States was racially segregated, and African Americans were looked at as second class citizens. In the mid-1900's, a time period which is now known as the Civil Rights Movement, there were a number of different people who helped lead the charge to desegregate the United States. Some of the historical figures, who's names are synonymous with the Civil Rights Movement, include political activist Martin Luther King, NAACP officer Medgar Evers, Baptist minister Malcolm X, and normal citizen Rosa Parks. All of these people were a very large part of the Civil Rights Movement and attempted to recognize African Americans as equals to Whites.

Prejudice is often defined as a predetermined opinion not based on fact,experience, or knowledge. Many acts of inequalities and discriminative wrong-doings in history can be traced back to being a result of prejudice.So what place does a concept with such a negative connotation have in an institution of higher education where students and faculty of varying cultures and backgrounds come together to learn? One form of prejudice is racism. Racism is negative attitudes and values held by people about other people based on their race. It is this attitude which causes one to discriminate against another. Discrimination is treating people unfavorably on the basis of race, color or sex. Prejudice and discrimination were prevalent in the 1950s and 1960s. This era was a time of hatred, a time of violence, a time when black people were colonized by the white colonizer, and it was a time of white-on-black racial violence. Because of this hatred, the whites discriminated against the blacks.
One form of prejudice is rumors, it can cause harm to that individual who is being targeted and affect their future based on the rumor actually is and whether people would actually believe it or not. Rumors can easily hide the truth about that person’s personality because they are basically lies, opinions, and made up stories about that individual. Some people might start passing around judgments based on that rumor and that can a lot of trouble and conflict between the people. Racism is one of the major issues in the world today. Many people are not aware of racism still existing in schools. It is obvious that racism is bad as it was many decades ago but it sure has not gone away. Racism very much exists and it is about time that people need to start thinking about solutions to this matter. Many people believe that it depends on if a person was brought into the world as a racist or not but that is not the case at all. Prejudice and hate have always been prominent issues in society. Their roots extend from European concentration camps to American issues of civil rights (Kleg, 1993, p. 18). Not only were feelings of prejudice seen within ethnicities, but also within gender and socioeconomic statuses. Eventually each case has diminished through appropriate regulations and education. Racism is a huge social problem in the world today. Many races today are being discriminated for being a certain race. Racism has been a social problem for a quite long time now, and it is still a social problem. The vast majority are being discriminated because of a certain group of a race, or person, done something that was awful, but this does not mean the whole race is to blame for the actions of others. Other races are looked down upon because of the color of their skin or maybe because they look very different. Racism has led up to genocide because one group fears another, or because of the way a race looks. A person who is racist is not born racist, they are taught to be racist or they see other people being racist, and they want to
