In this fast-moving and competitive world, most people have a desire to be better than others. So, to reach that goal, people often look for a role model or inspirational hero for themselves. The typical image of a modern-day, fictional hero is Batman, Spiderman or Superman with muscles and supernatural powers. However, reality is quite different. A modern-day non-fictional hero is a regular person, who shows true leadership and courageously overcomes obstacles. Every person in this world has the potential to display a heroic quality that makes him or her different from others. Actually, the word “hero” comes from Greek meaning “protector” or “defender.” Beowulf is an epic hero. He is a brave warrior who fights a fire-breathing dragon, Grendel, and Grendel’s mother. People will still remember them after their death because of the things they did for people. In Beowulf, Beowulf helped Denmark’s people when they needed his help for free. Then later to protect Geats’s people, he died killing the dragon. Except before dying, he wanted to be remembered and exclaimed, “Have/ The brave Geats build me a tomb.” Although Bill Gates doesn't fight like Beowulf, he will be remembered forever for his inestimable discovery of Microsoft, which made the world a better place. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have advanced computers. Microsoft is important because it adds convenience to our lives. According to Forbes, Microsoft appears to be the second most valuable company in the world, right after Apple (The World’s Most Valuable Brand). And even though it’s second, it’s still known as one of the most successful company over the last decade because of the help of Bill Gates and his friend Paul Allen. With the help of Microsoft, there have been many important inventions and changes in this world. And without Bill Gates help, none of this would’ve been
