Today, the education has affected by many ideas. Each one of them gives us a new vision for the education and the reason of it. The education gives us the knowledge and experience that we can use it in our daily life. This knowledge helps our minds to see everything around us with a new way. As a young lady from Kentucky Hooks was confused and worried at the first time she went to Stanford. She took a little time to notice the culture gap in the education system, language and community. Being a southern black Hooks get a lot of respect for her parents and her community because she gets into the college. Also, she became a well-educated woman and she took his place in the society with her education. Hooks said that we should work to end the gap between different cultural and higher education. Especially, African American culture to have a strong feeling of community and she emphasizes the importance of self-discovery.
