In the aviation industry, there are many examples of successful aviation organisations that have differentiated themselves from the highly competitive market. These organisations have shown that even during the times of global economical hardship, they are still able make a substantial profit and continue to grow. Their success is often not a secret, but comes from the foundation of core beliefs and values set within the organisation. It provides the foundations of how successful the organisation can be. Aviation organisation in particular international airlines face a challenging task to establish the right culture for its operations because it has to balance the ethnic and social issues, while maintaining a safe standard without compromising on profit maximisation. (BAA Training, 2013) Good airline management will have a deep understanding of the culture environment because the employees across the airline will often be multi-cultural. This can often be a problem with mixing cultures within the working environment. It is therefore the role of higher management from the airlines to set the right culture for its operations that can be followed on from its employees. In the United States, many of the major airlines have tried to copy the success from Southwest Airlines trying to incorporate its ideas into their own airline. However, they have all failed. Surely, the airline can copy Southwest Airlines model by no frills service, operating at secondary airports and using a single aircraft type. But what made the airlines failed to achieve Southwest Airlines success was that it was not able to copy the intangibles according to Linda Rutherford spokesperson of Southwest Airlines. “You can’t copy the corporate culture; you can’t copy the people.
