All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are a fun way for families to enjoy the outdoors. Indeed, ATVs can be enjoyed by people of all ages and may safely be driven by young children. However, choosing the right size ATV for your children is very important. Furthermore, restricting access to children that understand how to operate the controls is essential. ATV Basics ATVs are off-road vehicles, outfitted with small, but powerful engines and designed to navigate a variety of terrain. These vehicles enable users to cover hundreds of miles of rough surface within days and at speeds up to 70 mph. Good clues that your child is ready to operate an ATV has to do with his physical and emotional development. Experts recommend that parents find a size appropriate ATV for their children. Specifically, children should be matched with a machine that offers no less than three inches of clearance between the child’s seat of the pants and the ATV’s seat. Furthermore, the child must be able to grip the handlebars and move them all the way to the left and to the right. Moreover, the child must be able to both operate the throttle and squeeze the lever with one hand. Finally, if the child is able to control a bicycle, she may be ready to operate an ATV. Another matter to keep in mind is the child’s emotional development. He should understand the consequences of his action and demonstrate self control. Given that there are rules for operating an ATV and additional rules to follow on various terrain, the child operator must comprehend the importance of following these requirements. Notably, some 25 percent of all ATV injuries involve children who are under age 16. ATV

Just like the teenage boy that died in the wreck, most young teen drivers think they are invincible and are owners of the road which is all due to lack of maturity. The mind set of young drivers now days is “I’m too young to die”, or “it wont happen to me” and they are so blinded by the immature thinking that it gets them in trouble. Some traits generally linked with the immaturity are: chance taking, testing limits, poor-decision making, overconfidence, speeding, following to closely, and dangerous passing (Williams). When you have youthful age and immature characteristics combined the crash possibility is enlarged. The 15-16 age groups are among the most accident prone of most groups (“Don’t”), so why then would we want them behind the wheel? “Most U.S. states license at age 16, but the minimum age for a regular license is 14 in South Dakota and 15 in five other states including: Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and South Carolina”, stated Allan F. Williams. Youthful age and immature thinking is part of the reason wh...
Deciding what model of go kart to buy your child can be a hard decision for you. If you have decided to make the purchase, there should be a confusion with your choices which one to buy electric or gas model. However, there are various reasons
Maturity is an important requirement of driving, as it is a safety issue. Breaking through red lights or stop signs and speeding are dangerous. Turning on radio or CD loudly makes the driver not able to hear a siren, such as an ambulance or a police car or horn that could be a warning from another driver. Using the cell phone to talk, text message, or watch a video while driving can cause accidents, too. Compared to 15-year old, 18-year old is more mature to realize that safety is number one priority while driving.
By allowing 14 year olds to drive would help out greatly. The ability to have more drivers means more equipment is able to be used. Having more drivers and equipment means more efficiency which equals the job is getting done faster. This idea also has advantages on non-farm families. It allows an older sibling or child to drive for multiple reasons. They could
I think it should be up to the parents if they want to buy the teen a car or not, there isn't a blanket rule that all parents should or all parents shouldn't. The way my parents did it was they bought me a car after I had a job for 90 days. They were pretty sure I was going to wreck it so they got me a $500 piece of junk. Turned out it ran fine for 2 years, ugly as heck though. I think an $18,500 car would have been too expensive as my first car because my first car was severely abused. We raced it, drank (soda) in it, ate group lunches in it, played the aforementioned shopping cart soccer, figured out what happens when you put an automatic in first and keep the gas floored (answer: it shifts anyway), and what happens when you put it in reverse on the freeway (answer: nothing, it has a speed-lockout).
Carmakers have greatly improved factory installed wheels and tires. Just 20 years ago the average wheel size came in at 14 inches.
Turning the age of sixteen is a huge step in the life of a teenager. When becoming the age of sixteen a new challenge is brought into that person’s life, and that new challenge is driving a car. But are sixteen year olds ready for this for this task? Some people would say that driving a car can be very problematic for a sixteen year old. Those people are right, sixteen year old should not be driving cars at that age, and just leave it for the people who are eighteen or even older to handle such a task. There are several good reasons why the government should raise the legal driving age to eighteen than leaving it at sixteen.
“Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional deaths for teens (16-17),” reported The New York State Department of Health. The most exciting thing about being sixteen in the United States is driving. Teenagers can not wait to be sixteen to drive, however, they do not understand the dangers that come with driving at such a young age. Sixteen is the age between child life and adulthood. It is a time when they are not stable and undergoing change, which makes them unsuitable to drive. Many teenagers would say that they need to get to places. In response to that claim, there are public transportation systems and bikes as available alternatives for young drivers. The financial stability and matureness of eighteen year olds proves
People ride bicycles for various reasons. Some people ride bicycles for sport, fitness purposes, as a mode of transportation, fun activity, and some people ride bikes to simply relax and clear their mind after a long day. Regardless of the reason you ride, it is important to know the factors that contribute to bicycle and helmet safety. A study in 2014 shows that 103.7 million people rode a bike that year and 34 percent of Americans age three or older rode a bike at least once in that year (“Study: 103.7 Million Americans Ride Bikes”). The importance of bicycle safety cannot be underestimated. According to the 2008 Alabama Traffic Crash Facts, there were 182 bicycle crash injuries and four fatalities. In 2008, children 14 years old and under
