While the boys were there they were molested and raped by four prison guards.the guards were Nokes, Ferguson, and Rizzo. After the boys got out of wilkinson's about 20 years later Tommy and John found Nokes in a restaurant and shoot him at least 7 times. And throw out the movie Michael as a layer and Shakes as a Newspaper writer. The two plot their revenge on the guards and tried to get Tommy and John out of jail and get what the guards to confess and the word out what they did to them in Wilkinson home for boys. The end up winning the case and got the to boys out and got their revenge.
On the first week at Grandma’s, a man named Shotgun Cheatman died. Everyone in the town went to the funeral because he was the well known assistant to the Mayor. The funeral was held in Grandma’s house and a creepy thing happened that night when Tom the cat crawled inside the casket. The next day, Joey, Mary Alice and Grandma left the house and walked across fields of tall grass and “cow pies aplenty” to Salt Creek to go fishing. They found an old wooden boat and Grandma rowed the boat out into the creek. While on their fishing adventure, they encountered a cottonmouth snake that fell into the boat and a party of drunken men on land dancing in their underwear.
A family is going on a trip to Florida, but the grandma tries to convince them to go to Tennessee instead after reading an article about “The Misfit”. The Misfit is an escaped criminal who is allegedly going to Florida. On the way to Florida, Bailey, the grandmother’s son, decides to take a short detour to a house that the grandmother had talked about. The family got in a car accident and became stranded on the side of the road. Finally, a car stops to help the family. The grandma recognizes on of the men who stopped as the Misfit. The Misfit then kills the family in groups; first the boys, then the girls and the baby, excluding the grandmother. The grandmother tries to talk the Misfit out of killing her, but she eventually ends up being killed too.
Along the river, Jim and Huck run across two scam artists who claim to be a runaway King and Duke. Their raft is overtaken by these two men who force Huck and Jim into their dangerous, yet comical scams. Their last scam proves t be too much of Huck. The King and Duke claim to be the brothers of a quite wealth, but conveniently deceased man. Because of their acclamation, the two men are guaranteed a large inheritance. However, when Huck falls for the beautiful heart and kindness of one of the dead man's nieces he can't imagine stealing the money form her. Huck tells the niece the whole story, and admits who the "brothers" really are. The King and Duke are eventually discovered by the town to be impersonators, and are tarred and feathered.
The setting takes place present day in Harlem, New York. The main character is a sixteen-year-old boy named Steve Harmon. Steve Harmon is on trial for a murder that he believes he did not commit. While he is in jail he is writing a script for a movie about the trial. The script helps Steve stay calm and not go crazy while he is in jail.
