The Arab Israeli conflict has been going on for many years. The struggle for peace in South West Asia is hundreds of years old. The fight over Israel has been going on, and cannot find peace. Ariel Sharon played a crucial part in the war for Israel on the israeli side and is seen in many perspectives from both sides of the war. Ariel Sharon was born in Palestine in and became a soldier early in his life. He fought for Israel early on in his life. He was injured as a soldier but when he recovered, he was appointed leader of Unit 101. Unit 101 was a commando group that raided Jordanian border cities and villages, many times leaving many people dead. Sharon also lead a raid into the Gaza Strip, which tightened tensions between Egypt and Israel. …show more content…

He did many things to make people mad, and other things to make people happy. Many of his actions were controversial, and people sometimes did not like what he did. When Sharon attacked the Jordanian villages, there were a lot of mixed feeling about what he did. When he, and Unit 101, attacked these villages, many Israelis thought what he did was good, and that it was necessary. Arabs in Jordan and in the rest of the Middle East, mostly thought it was not necessary to kill innocent people, and were mad at Sharon for what he did. With the rest of the things he did, it continued like this. The Israelis thought he was a hero, and the Arabs thought the opposite. After the 6-Days War, Sharon had been thought of as a military hero in Israel. The people of Egypt, and its allies did not think of him this way. In 1982, Sharon invaded Lebanon, and in a short period of time, over ten thousand people were dead. Sharon was found indirectly responsible for these deaths. Sharon was removed from office because of the killings. The Sabra and Shatila Massacres in Lebanon were when hundreds were killed in a refugee camp controlled by a group allied with Israel. Sharon was also held responsible for these killings, and hated for it. Sharon was seen in many different ways. Sharon was often seen as a hero for Israel, because he did all of his fighting for his country. He was seen as a bad person, and hated by a lot of the Arab people
