Time seems to be moving at a relatively slower pace than usual. It’s theoretically not possible but every student who is taking a standardized test will have to disagree. What’s a Standardized test you ask, well it’s the all-around test that evaluates a student’s performance in school, which helps for both the student and the school to improve their academics in the future. It’s a laughable definition indeed. Standardized testing in the past has been nothing short of waste of time, a faulty process that is unnecessarily nerve whacking that it damages a students and a teacher’s future. It’s a high stake testing ground that offers little to no chance of performing well if you’re a minority or if your first language is not English. It’s a profit guzzling market whose primary goal is not the value of a child’s education but the money they make out of it. However, not only has the test scores significantly dropped, the US is way lower on the worldwide chart. Standardized test marketing companies, mainly Pearson who’s in charge of more than 40% of the market, have taken advantage in increasing standardized tests. They exploit this factor to their advantage as they sell and market all the test book and practice books that helps you pass the test, not even with the exception of the teachers who also have to take a Pearson test to be able to prepare you for testing. The low income families often take a hit due to this reason because they’re not able to afford any of the pretest preparation materials and tends to show a lower scores on the tests.
