Section 1: Geography and Culture I would like to start off by talking about the geographical location of Argentina. Argentina is located in the southern part of South America. Both the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean surround Argentina. Now Argentina has five major geographical regions starting with the rain forests of the far northeast; the flat and swampy Chaco plains; the grasslands of central Pampas; the plateaus of Patagonia and lastly the Andes Mountains that runs along the western border of Chile. I now want to go in to more detail about some of the different regions. First I want to talk about the rainforest called Valdivian rainforest, which also happens to be the second largest of five temperate rainforests. The Valdivian rainforest …show more content…
Argentina was founded by Spain, which gives a stronger cultural background of Spain. Predominantly Spanish is spoken in Argentina, although many others speak Italian. It is said that roughly 1.5 million people speak Italian in Argentina. Italy has also strongly influenced Argentinian cuisine. An example would be pizza, although pizza in known worldwide, Argentina has made their own version of pizza where the crust is thicker, doughier and a lot cheesier. This is an example of how other countries have influenced Argentina. Now I will continue to talk about some of the traditions that are held in …show more content…
A good example of this would be potatoes; the average per capita consumption of potatoes is 40 kg. The potato region of Argentina is 77,000 ha, which is equivalent to about 297 square miles. The same goes for onions and tomatoes in the sense that they are used in a variety of Argentinian dishes. Soups, salads and entrees all use onion or tomatoes in some kind of way. A couple dishes that use onion or tomatoes would be a chimichurri sauce, which contains both onion and tomatoes; another dish would be Carbonada Criolla, this dish incorporates veggies, fruit and meat. These are only a few dishes that use the vegetables I listed. I will now finish section 2 by discussing different starches in Argentina and how they can be incorporated in to
Once named the friendliest city in the world, Puerto Vallarta in my eyes continues to carry that reputation. The people who live there are what make this place so special; it is my most desired place to travel to. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico sits along the coast of Banderas Bay in the Pacific Ocean. Along with having exotic scenery, they are known for having an exceptional variety of food. With the dark frigid winter creeping up on us, my head wanders to memories of missed friends and 90 degree temperatures.
Inhabitants of the land where mostly Spanish, Indian natives. Most of Argentina’s land was filled with deserted areas due to the low population, and the fact that not many people lived in Argentina's vast mountains and plain areas. This vast land was so large, that most governments could not control it, and criminals could basically do, as they wanted. Most of these criminals, gauchos, barbarians, or call them what you will overran these plains and mountains. It was the behavio...
Economically speaking, Argentina was at the verge of collapse despite its initial strong stability seen at the beginning of Videla’s regime. Argentina adapted a neo-liberal economic system; in addition their initial policies of liberating trade and eliminating price controls were just some policies that would create huge economic problems for Argentina at the time. In order to make up for liberating domestic trade and eliminating price controls control had to be implemented to ensure that the regime had full control of the economic situation which was at stake as a result of the adoption of these polices. Wages in Argentina were lowered which resulted in “real wage well below historical levels” (Nogues). Although this was successful in reducing inflation at first this in time also cause inflation to rise relatively high. As a result of this high inflation that occurred as a result of this police, he Argentinian regime entered a panic and implemented other policies to try to amend this problem, policies that resulted contradictory since these polices hindered the success of one another. The reintroduction of price and exchange controls along with the already implemented wage controls all lead up to “inconsistent policy behavior” (Nogues). The inconsistencies in economic policies lead the Central Bank to classify “perceived capital inflows as being inflationary, and financial controls to be ineffective” (Nogues).
Did you know that Peru is one of the top ten countries to visit in the world? (UNWTO) Peru has unique music and energetic dances that are fun to see. The people are friendly and charming; they would be happy to help one find their way if they need help. But, the main reason Peru appears on the top ten list is because of its unique geographical features. Some examples are the Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu and Cusco. The art and culture of the Peruvians, as well as the people themselves, and the popular places to go, are what tourists like to see in Peru.
Of course, Bolivians do have some signature foods and local fruits are super tasty.
