The dry leaves crumbled underneath his light footsteps as he seemingly glided forward, stopping under a low blackberry bush just metres away from his prey. He carefully pulled his bowstring back, taking precisive aim and blocking out everything else around him. His family depended on it.
A slight breeze brushed the branches, causing the young stag to look up fearfully and take a cautious step backwards...
"Archer!"
The arrow pierced the poor creature's neck, and blood splattered the nearby leaves as it tried to stumble away. He hastily dropped his bow and unsheathed a long dagger from his belt, approaching the dying stag slowly.
He gently stroked the whimpering creature before whispering, "Requiscat in pace." With a quick arm motion the stag's body shuddered and drew still. …show more content…

Although worry for Nietra's health took up most of his mind, a small voice repeated his own doubts about his dad. Would the village really accept his father after what he had done?
The cottage was silent when Archer slipped off his brown leather hunting boots, making his worry for Nietra deepen. No smoke had been billowing from the chimney and Archer had not seen any movement in the windows.
"Nietra? Elya?" He yelled, walking forward and looking from room to room.
"Archer?" Cried a hoarse voice from the living room, their voice ragged and worn out.
He rushed into the small room, spotting his younger sister Elya tending to the frail woman. She was propped up on the old couch, wrapped in a quilt and sipping soup, her hands shaking.
"You're okay!" Archer breathed a sigh of relief, running his hands through his dirty hair. "Akito had me worried, he said–"
"I'm fine, darling," Nietra interrupted, smiling, "it was just a small fall which winded me for a moment or two. Luckily my darling granddaughter Elya was here to help me and get me comfortable."
