The application and execution of Six Sigma vary based on a culture’s orientation, specifically on how companies focus on hard and soft savings and the organizational scope of projects. The research investigates the three major factors of Six Sigma method, project management, and the project manager competencies and how they affect the three measures of performance: project success perception, quality improvement and finical returns. Although all three of the major factors are crucial to the success of Six Sigma, the discussion of the project manager and project management are the most applicable factors in organizational design. In order to effectively implement Six Sigma, organizations must effectively design their organizational structure to empower the project manager to properly manage projects. Additionally, the effectiveness of a project manager is dependent on personal qualities (specifically discusses in the article) such as interpersonal skills of the project manager.
