In this paper, I argue that for a particular tree T, T is the sum of all parts of the tree and P represents the individual components that make up the sum such as the leaves, branches and roots, where T can exist for a period without P, but P must exist as a part of T. My argument proceeds by, in the fall, trees that lose their leaves are still standing while trees without leaves throughout multiple seasons will die, cutting tree branches off the tree will cause the branches to die but allow the tree to continue its existence, each part has its own role that contributes to T and each part that is removed is replaceable by the tree.
In the fall, most trees lose their leaves. During this process the leaves die as they fall from the tree. They are separated from the tree every year, but only during a period of cold when the tree hibernates. During this period the tree is running on lower energy so it does not need the leaves to sustain itself. A tree cannot exist indefinitely without leaves. Other times during a year, people can pluck leaves off the trees. This does not kill the tree. Removal of the leaves can harm the tree if it is excessive, but in small doses does not stop the existence of T. Leaves left on the ground will die and

Now I will discuss the branches as they relate to T. Branches are removed from trees for various reasons and the trees still continue their existence. When trees have the branches cut off, the tree eventually grows new branches. This shows that the tree is capable of existing without the branches. While people can cut branches back without killing the tree, the branches will not live long without being attached to the rest of the tree. Similar to the removal of leaves, if the tree has all of its branches removed, it will not be able to exist for
can actually leave more space for new trees. Also, cutting down trees gives more multiple resources to contribute for our needs. One tree can produce many things to help we humans and cutting them down can be more of a benefit than a disadvantage. Trees can be very beneficial and be used as many resources through education and basically everyday life. The Truax has a more realistic view on the environment and how we are using it.
that the tree will stretch and crack year after year to accommodate new growth. This resembles a rebirth of
“Nothing endures, not a tree, not love, not even a death by violence”(14). He wants everyone to know that nothing lasts everything must come to an end. He is specifically saying this to point out the end of his relationship with Phineas. This tree symbolizes all that is wrong with society and continues to occur. “Ours had been a wayward gypsy music, leading us down all kinds of foolish gypsy ways, unforgiven.

supreme power by stating that the tree is, indeed, a "cinch" (p. 6). No Upper
In Ap biology, we were handed a Campbell Textbook before the class began in order to complete the pre-modules. I consider the textbook to be the most beneficial resource that we had during this course, due to the amount of detail, examples, and images that it contained explaining each concepts in a reliable way. The power points that were made to summarize the main points from the textbook were helpful, however they were really long and made me miss what was actually important and take additional notes on filler information. Due to the long powerpoints, I felt implied to take long and details notes, which people struggled in this class, either taking too much or too less. After two units passed, we were taught how our notes should be, which will later help us in college. This strategy allowed me to understand the important information and identify the filler information, resulting in
There have always been many different trees are found in the forest. Tall ones, round of leaf and with broad branches spread open in welcome. Short ones are found here as well, with thin trunks and wiry limbs they sway in the breeze. A wide variety of foliage in the emerald grove dancing merrily to the whispers of the wind. In this quiet thicket, a different type of tree grows, too. They stand resolute, patient, and ever growing.
Trees grow into woody plants with a main trunk, many branches, and come in varieties of shapes, leaf types and reproductive organs. Tree roots can spread up to three meters in depth and width, sometimes damaging buildings or footpaths (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthesis, 2010). All plants photosynthesise, allowing production of their own food, by converting carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen using sunlight energy. Therefore as all organisms release carbon dioxide through respiration, only plants use it to produce oxygen, which is a circular process (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthesis, 2010).
Susan Lindee and Ricardo Santos’ goal was to understand the contexts of genesis and development of biological anthropology around the world from an international standpoint, focusing on engagement with living human populations. Their contributors, scholars in history of science, science studies, and anthropology, were guided by key questions about national histories, collections, and scientific field practice.
Restate thesis: In reality forests are better left alone, forests provide the earth with a regulated climate, strong biodiversity, and good nutrient rich soil for plants to strive on.
Most of trees are private property, but that does not mean that they are not part of the community also. Since trees are everywhere, there is a lot of planning that goes into the placement of trees so that they benefit everyone. Trees provide people with privacy for their homes and yards. Trees also serve an architectural function as well. Many architects use trees to improve the looks of a businesses and public areas to make people more at home.
II.Audience connection/credibility: It is very important for us to understand that trees do so much for our environment and we need to stop destroying the trees because trees provide a home for many creatures, they are the lungs of our world. Trees have medicinal benefits, that are very useful to the human race. Trees are very beneficial to the world and it is unethical to keep destroying the trees.
Definition. A tree consists of a (possible empty) set of nodes. If it is not empty, it consists of a distinguished node r called the root and zero or more non-empty subtrees T1, T2, …, Tk such that there is a directed edge from r to each of the roots of T1, T2, …, Tk.Definition. A forest is a collection of trees. You can always create a tree form a forest by creating a new root node and making it the parent of the roots of all of the trees in the forest. Conversely, if you lop off the root of a tree, what is left is a forest.
Trees are usually considered as bland, unusual objects that are usually taken for granted; however, I believe there is more to a tree that meets the eye. They supply oxygen and shade. During the holidays, trees are able to spread holiday cheer by wearing holiday decorations. Through providing, they are always beneficial to the needs of others. Rather than having striking beauty like a flower, trees have are grounded and possess a gentle beauty; they are adapted wildflowers to their environment. In fact, if I had to compare myself to an inanimate object, I would choose a tree. A tree has many characteristics in common with me. Characteristics like relying on our roots, strength and observation, and helping others and leaving behind a powerful legacy are a few of the traits we share. All of which I believe are admirable qualities to possess.
Trees are one of the most important parts of the biosphere. They provide oxygen, which is one of the largest producers of life. Humans live and strive off of oxygen every second of their lives. Not just humans need oxygen to survive and thrive on Earth, but animals, and other creatures on the planet do as well. Trees are a huge part of all life and if they were gone, there would consequently be no form of life. Not only do trees create all forms of life, but they create beautiful surroundings for an area and create a comfortable and shady environment for all surrounding life. Even though trees seem to be everywhere you look, the planet is losing billions upon billions of them a year. Anywhere from three billion to six billion trees are lost every year, ("How Many Trees Are Cut Down Every Year? Rainforest Action Network Blog. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Apr. 2014”). With this fact in thought, it shows that planting one tree can create a bigger difference than you realize.
