Over the years many individuals from various places over the world have been consumed by the effect of addiction. Some of these individuals have also had the misfortune of being killed. Many people feel as though they have a void in their life and they turn to drugs or other substances to fill that void that they feel is missing. Addicts often do not realize that by using these drugs they are hurting not only themselves but also their friends and family as well as their community. According to (Psychology Today, 1991-2015) “Addiction is a condition that results when a person ingest a substance or engages in an activity that can be pleasurable but the continued use/act of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities”. …show more content…

With this, he was placed on a prescription methadone that would help him to overcome the cravings that causes him to want the methamphetamines. This did not give the family the results that they were hoping for because Anthony discovered that he could still get a high from the intravenous drug cocaine. His family eventually reached out to the TV show “Intervention” because his drug use continued in a way that did not look good. Each of his family members had some form of an experience that was directly related to his drug use. They felt that these experiences led to the need for the intervention. Anthony’s brothers used theft as their reason, he was stealing payroll checks from one of their businesses to support his habit. From the other Anthony stole $700.00 from the business after he broke the window in order to pay off a debt he had with a drug dealer that was threatening to stab Anthony. His own sister tried cutting off all contact with him for the sake of her children until he gets some help. It makes it more difficult for Anthony to go out and seek that help because despite everything, some of his family members still continue to enable him and his habits which does not help him in any
