Many books are made into movies. This is a good thing because it brings stories to life for people who have trouble picturing things in their head. On the downside, some things in the story are changed in the movie version while others aren’t. This is the case with Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. I liked both the film and the book, but one edged past the other in bringing the story to life. There were a few similarities between the book and the movie. In both, Anne was upset when Peter brought his cat to the Secret Annex because she hadn’t gotten to bring hers. There are many differences and similarities in the book, movie, and both. The book is some what different from the movie. There are many differences between the book and the movie. Like when PonyBoy and Johnny went to the movie theater Pony wished that he was big and buff like the guy in the movie.
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
Directed by George Stevens, the film came out only twelve years after The Diary of Anne Frank the book was first published. The film is adapted from the real journal entries of Anne Frank, a thirteen year old Jew hiding in a secret room with her family in Nazi-invaded Holland. The journal entries are filled with stories about her parents, her time in the "Secret Annex", and honest, daily thoughts of a thirteen year old girl. The book first came out in 1947, only two years after WWII was over. After the first publishing in Holland, The Diary’s impact moved to America. This would happen to be my report on what happened to Anne and her family while World War II was in action once it was converted to a play and a movie format. I'm sure they both these versions are much less graphic than Anne and her family saw it. I just hope Anne feels that they do her story justice. Both the play and film version of The Diary of Anne Frank focus on Anne Frank and her family's experiences in hiding. However, there are some similarities, including how Anne hands out presents to her family members and the other people in the Annex, and some differences, such as Anne and Peter's relationship and, Margot and Peter's relationship.
How would you feel if you were a Jew in World War II? Anne Frank was a Jew in World War II. The play we read was called the diary of Anne Frank. She said, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." According to the diary she believed in the quality in people even after hardships her family has endured. Anne Frank had to go into hiding from Hitler because he wanted to kill all of the Jews. He thought that they should not be allowed to practice their religion. Because of this, she had to go into hiding for two years. Here are some ways she showed her belief that people were good at heart. The first reason is she thought of different ways to make her family happy in the darkest of times. The second reason is Mr. Van Daan stole bread to feed himself. The third reason was she found someone to talk to even when she was trapped for two years. She was believing in everyone else as they were breaking down in fear.
For example, Mama goes to the bank in the movie and is given a hard time about paying her mortgage, but this did not happen in the book. Another major difference is that the school bus scene, where the Logan kids played a trick on the white kids, was not shown in the movie, even though it was an important part of the story. There are some character changes as well. Lillian Jean, Jeremy, R.W, and Melvin are Simms’ in the book, but in the movie they are Kaleb Wallace’s children. However, the main plot difference is how the movie starts in the middle, summarizing everything from the first part of the book very briefly. In the movie, they missed things or changed parts, but they also quoted the book quiet a lot and make the story more a like. Most of the most important parts were in the movie. They missed one of the camps that Corrie was sent to and the didn’t show much of the 100th year party of the watch shop besides a picture. I liked the book way more than the movie because the book had more detail and made you understand what that part of WWII was like more than the movie does. In the book Corrie is learning how to have more faith and trust in God more but in the movie, she had a lot of faith the whole time and she didn’t struggle with that as much. I enjoyed reading about that because it made me feel like I’m not the only one that struggles.

One thing that happened in the movie and not in the book is when a window shatters it was Mr.Kraler trying to get into the business. The reason why Mr.Kraler had to break the window was because Peter forgot to unbolt the door. In the book/play when the window shatters it is a thief robbing Mr.Frank’s business, not Mr.Kraler. Another difference is in the movie Mrs. Frank burns a pan while she is making lunch which causes there so become smoke. In the book/play it doesn’t say anything about Mrs. Frank burning anything. The third difference is in the book/play it states that Peter and Anne go to Peter’s room to talk and get away from the adults. In the movie it shows that they go up to the attic where they kissed. Although she only lived to be fifteen, Anne is known and respected throughout the world for the humanistic light her work shed on an infamous time. Born June 12th, 1929, in Germany, she spent her early years in a middle-class Jewish-German family. However, the tranquility of the Frank family and 522,000 other German-Jews’ would be shattered by one of the most nefarious events in history, the Holocaust. Anne’s diary became an influential resource in understanding historical and emotional aspects of the Holocaust. Although she was young, Anne Frank is the greatest diarist of European history because she preserved a critical time in history, her work captured the human experience of the Holocaust, and her ideals of hope and optimism remain influential throughout our world today.
Tranquility fills the dull atmosphere. Not knowing how much water the clouds contain before the downpour starts, we innocently set ourselves up for an endless journey; a journey to find the purpose in life. A droplet of rain trickles down onto the top of your head, following a shower of many more droplets. Lightning flashes and booms of thunder take over the sky. Many are hesitant of whether to continue their journey or hide from this storm; an umbrella can only give so much protection against the rapid winds and stinging raindrops. Many describe thunderstorms in a frightening way, but the strong willed individuals who embrace the storm think with positivity - rain is changing the environment and bringing life to the world. Once the rain subsides, the atmosphere, exhausted and worn out, settles down back into the calm tranquil environment that it once was. The sky, once filled with dark and murky clouds, is filled with blue. One may either face the challenge they have been approached with to move on, or decline and stay caught in a storm. An individual’s view of the world has immense power of whether one’s obstacles will result in failure or achievement. It is the mentality that we approach life’s challenges that determine the positive or negative outcomes in our lives.

Introduction The autobiography book, “The Diary of a Young Girl”, is a collection of Dutch diary entries authored by Anne Frank, a 13-year-old Jewish girl who lived through the atrocities of the Anti-Semitist German Nazi Regime. Beginning on June 14, 1942, the diary, which Anne named “Kitty”, vividly depicts fear-filled stories of the Franks and other Jews in evading racial annihilation. Besides the stories of war, the world-renowned personal account narrates a teenage girl’s blossoming and her search for identity, love, and acceptance. The entries end abruptly on August 1, 1944, signifying the Gestapo’s capture of the Frank family and all the other residents of the Secret Annexe, but despite the impermanence of Anne’s life, her legacy endures in her 70-year-old memoir which immortalizes the horrors of the humanity-crushing war and violence in the minds of mankind and how it was perceived through the eyes of the juveniles.
