Animal Farm is another book by George Orwell that involves animals on a farm going against humans that take care of them and humans from other farms. They are being led by three pigs named Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer. These pigs portray different types of historical figures such as Joseph Stalin, Leon Trotsky, and Hitler ruling a Totalitarian society (Other animals on the farm)."I warn every animal on this farm to keep his eyes very wide open. For we have reason to think that some of Snowball's secret agents are lurking among us at this moment."(Orwell, Animal Farm 82) Snowball eventually was forced out of the group as he was against Napoleon's way of ruling. “Throughout the spring and summer they worked a sixty-hour week, and in August Napoleon announced that there would be work on Sunday afternoons as well. This work was strictly voluntary, but any animal who absented himself from it would have his rations reduced by half."(Orwell, Animal Farm 59) The animals have been tricked into working hard and unknowingly are being deceived and don't complain because they do not want their rations to be taken away. They are being forced into doing something they don’t want to do because they are afraid to take action and say something. This is another fear tactic as the animals aren’t able to do anything because they are afraid, which is keeping the pigs in control. “When they had finished their confession, the dogs promptly tore their throats out, and in a terrible voice Napoleon demanded whether any other animal had anything to confess.”(Orwell, Animal Farm 84) Napoleon had ordered animals to confess to things they did that was against their type of governing. If they confessed, they would be executed. In this quote, a different set of pigs had confessed that they worked as secret agents and Napoleon called out his guard dogs to execute them.
