The film whiplash, present an idea on what teens face during college, who are looking to give up after being thrown in directions they never been before. Having the opportunities that people have to offer to achieve their goals during college is helpful, and motivating even if it seems like it’s so hard to reach. Andrew a young teenager who had the love of the music in his blood since he was a kid, becoming a percussion player was not something his parents really wanted him to do, unlike his brother who would play football, get trophies they wanted Andrew to do something entertaining like his brother. Going to the University of Shaffer top rank music school, who started in the lowest part of the band group wasn’t stopping Andrew from achieving his goals. One major goal was to be known as the best drummer, and be playing in the JVC jazz musical, and getting spotted by Fletcher the teacher who was also a great musician himself. Andrew would practice on the daily basis in his dorm were he would make sure he would hit every note as it read. Sweat, tears would go into the drum during his practices just to be notice by Fletcher, who finally notices him playing well on the drums. Fletcher tells Andrew to show him how to play a couple swings, so he can know what his about. After teasing Andrew, fletcher goes to the lower band class to give the students a chance to move up to his jazz band, which he shows his ego. Andrew gets invited to go to practice next morning at 6am when class usually at a later time, he waited to show his skills on the drums, Andrew waited for the class to begin for more than 6 hours to have the opportunity to show his skills on the drums. Fletcher would test Andrews skills by yelling at him seeing if he was patient enough to take responsibilities, and see how he can handle being yelled at while playing drums testing his focus. This would make Andrew cry, only push himself more to learn all the songs, memorize all the songs so he wouldn’t have to look at the music notes. After days of breaking sweats in the dorm, skin on his fingers, and almost giving up he manages to learn every song. After showing up to practice they had a performance and fletcher was very hard on never to lose your music folder, because you will never play and you would be disrespecting him.
