The material selected for the mesh is polypropylene mesh. This mesh can be used in single or double layer. The actual area which is covered by the mesh material is 40% but it is also dependent on the degree to which it is stretched. A double layer can also be used for the mesh. The second layer of the mesh can be placed as desired according to the required area covered. The maximum area covered from the mesh can be 70% in a double layer mesh arrangement. The fiber width is 0.5-1.5 mm for the same reason but is typically 1 mm wide. The mesh is woven in a triangular pattern and has spacing between the horizontal lines in the mesh of 1.3 cm. The mesh is not expensive at all. It is also UV protected and food safe. It has a lifetime of about ten …show more content…
It is necessary because the fog collection is efficient above the ground and varies with height. There would be a trough/gutter arrangement right below the mesh frame. This trough would collect the water droplet from the mesh net. It could be in square, round or triangular shape. The boundaries of this trough would be 10 cm behind the frame in order to collect the water droplet that falls at an angle in case of high gusts and winds during bad weather. Similarly, the trough would extend 2 cm in front of the frame in case slow wind blows in the opposite direction. If the wind could blow in both directions with the same force and speed, then it is preferred to place the trough in between the frame which means that the trough should be placed as its center should be right below the center of the frame. The trough would have a small slope where it would be connected to a pipe arrangement which would lead the collected water to the water storage. It is necessary to have a pipe of 7cm to 10cm because smaller pipes than this size would get sediments and get clogged. The pipe arrangement would lead the water to the water storage where it would be stored. The water storage would be large enough to collect the estimated water for the period of
Storm waters are widely used in many different areas, even required in some. They are a vital tool that helps keep streams healthy. Storm water ponds are used to capture, control, and filter all kinds of runoff that could be from anything like parking lots to roof tops. The use of storm water ponds is essential to slow the flow of water down, filter out toxins, and improve the health of streams for aquatic life and for consumption purposes. All of that is in efforts to protect local streams.
STRUCTURE Kevlar Aramid Fiber is a synthetic (man-made) material known as Polymer. A polymer is a chain that is made up of many similar molecular groups, better known as ‘monomers’ that are bonded together. The ‘Monomers’ are made up of fourteen Carbon atoms, two Nitrogen atoms, two Oxygen atoms and ten Hydrogen atoms. A single Kevlar polymer chain could possibly have anywhere from one to five million monomers bonded together. A group of polymer chains can be organised together in a fiber.
Another way of acquiring water was to build a cistern. Usually located in the courtyard, a cistern is an underground reservoir where rainwater is stored (149). Falling rain would be caught in the compluvium, a channel that surrounds the hole in the roof above the atrium in a home; the rain would then pour through spouts into the impluvium, where it would be routed to the cistern. Rainwater could also reach the cistern by rolling from the ...
Ethylene, H2 C = CH2, the lightest olefin. It is a colorless, flammable gas, produced mainly by thermal decomposition in the presence of steam (steam cracking) from petroleum-based raw materials. Ethylene has virtually no direct inhalation, but almost exclusively acts as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, especially plastics. Polyethylene, which is the most commonly used plastic, is directly produced from ethylene by its polymerization. Ethylene can also be chlorinated or combined with benzene to produce 1,2-dichloroethane, a precursor of plastic polyvinyl chloride to produce ethylbenzene, which is another important plastic used in the manufacture of polystyrene. Lesser amounts of ethylene are oxidized to produce chemicals containing ethylene oxide,
There are numerous stages that take place simultaneously in the hydrologic cycle and this includes evaporation. This is when the water alters from a liquid state into a gas. The damp air from the water rises into the atmosphere and when it cools, the vapor condenses and shapes into clouds. But those billows are not the only form the vapors make; it can also materialize as dew, fog and mist, which blanket the Earth, characteristically on a rainy or humid day. Evaporation takes place when water changes from a liquid state into a gaseous state, and ascents out of the pores of the earth and into the atmosphere as a vapor (“How”). While evaporation is taking place, condensation is also occurring. When the temperature in the air plunges, the clouds become heavy and as a result they relieve themselves of the extra weight, which is called precipitation. This produces rain, hail, snow and sleet, conditioned upon the temperate. As the precipitation falls, it enters the surface of the ground and percolates into the soil, which is called infiltration. The more porous the land is, the more the infiltration can take place. However, the ground cannot hold all of that water and floods. The excess rainfall, which is also called runoff that has not been absorbed makes its way into bodies of water, such as small ponds, rivers, lakes and parts of the ocean (“Summary”).
Storm Water Drainage: This is simply the water from rain, melted snow, etc. draining into
9 Pin the two pieces of fabric together, right sides facing, near the edge. The seam will go 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) to 5/8 inch (1.5 cm) from the edge. You can sew a single layer of fabric (and maybe do to stop an edge from fraying, say), but because the goal for most machine sewing is to join two pieces of fabric, one should get used to sew with a pair of bearings and pins.
Polyethylene (PE) is one of the most commonly used polymers which can be identified into two plastic identification codes: 2 for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and 4 for low density polyethylene (LDPE). Polyethylene is sometimes called polyethene or polythene and is produced by an addition polymerisation reaction. The chemical formula for polyethylene is –(CH2-CH2)n– for both HDPE and LDPE. The formation of the polyethylene chain is created with the monomer ethylene (CH2=CH2).

There are two popular ways of creating nylon for fiber applications. One, ¡°molecules with an acid (COOH) group on each end are reacted with molecules containing amine (NH©ü) groups on each end.¡± The nylon 6,6 is made in this fashion. The other common way of making nylon fibers is by polymerizing a compound containing an amine at one end and an acid at the other, to form a chain with reoccurring groups of (-NH-[CH©ü]n-CO-)x. If the x=5, the fiber is named nylon 6 (Nylon Fiber).
Carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymer (CFRP) is a composite polymer made up of carbon fibers and a binding polymer. The binding polymer can be a thermoset resin or thermoplastic polymer(s). Examples of thermoplastic polymers that can bind with carbon fiber to make CFRP are polyester, nylon, or vinyl ester. A thermoset resin that can combine with the carbon fiber to make CFRP is epoxy. The combination of the carbon fibers and a thermoset resin or thermoplastic polymer producing CFRP results in a light weight fiber-reinforced plastic that is tremendously strong. Depending on the binding polymer, CFPRs have a wide range of applications and are used when a light weight material with high rigidity and strength are required.
Peoples are always trying different techniques to beat the scorching heat, specifically in summer season. Recently, there many methods that proved their quality in reducing the atmospheric temperature to the required rates. There are three main types of evaporative cooling systems which are sprinkler systems, pad systems and Fogger systems. This project interested in the last one. Fogger system is defined as a type of nozzles that sprays water with high-pressure (up to 200 psi) or low pressure (less than 50 psi) to the air as a fine fog or mist. These fine fog or mist evaporates into the outdoor air in order to cool this air which is located beside the fogger (Giacomelli, 2003).
Most products made with the rotational molding method are from the polyethylene family. Other materials include nylons, polypropylene and PVC plastics. Some manufacturers have developed formulas that integrate the use of natural materials such as sand and chips of stone to make
The main problem which was needed to overcome was the selection of the fabric. Due to sustainable principle, I tried best to find the most sustainable fabrics; however, it was full of challenge. 100% silk organza, 100% silk taffeta and 100% Merino wool which were essential in my project were hard to discover in the fabric market in the UK. After consideration, I decided to order these expensive fabrics from China and finally sorted out the problem.
