Association between personality traits and academic achievements
Introduction
Academic achievement is a major issue among students , teachers, parents and administrators in Pakistan. Attempts have been made to unravel the difference factors that affect the academic performance. many psychologists attempted to explain the different predictors of academic achievement .factors such as gender(Weis, Heikamp, & Trommsdorff, 2013) , study habits(Rana, 2011), self-concept(Yousuf, 2010), home background(Brecko, 2004) and personality traits(Dunne, 2015) have been extensively explored. In other words it means those qualities the individual is noted for. Traits on the other hand are "enduring dimensions of personality characteristics which differentiates people from one another" (Colman, 2003 in Daminabo 2008).
These traits, popularly known as the 'Big Five’ include conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness to experience, extraversion and neuroticism.
