How lucky are we to be able to live in the land of freedom and the country that has equal opportunities for all its citizens? Many of us take those opportunities for granted while there are other people in this planet who dream of being here and having these opportunities. Furthermore, there are a lot of people who don’t seem to understand an important right and privilege that comes along with freedom. That privilage is known as “voting” which allows the people to take part in what’s happening with the country and the government. Voting is expressed in many ways not just every four years to elect a president in office. Voting is part of the freedom granted in the United States that allows its citizen’s to have an opinion over its government. Sometimes people don’t realize how lucky and fortunate we are to be able to simply vote. There are still countries that don’t allow its people to vote like the United States does. Unfortunately, some of us take this opportunity for granted and watch as other people vote for what they believe in even if it does harm to us. For example, North Korea only lets its citizens do limited things in regards to their national government. In fact, there are still countries where women still can’t vote! This should tell us something important that we should go out and vote while we have the opportunity. When a citizen decides not to vote, they are inflicting pain upon themselves, and into this beautiful country. Furthermore, they are not fully expressing their rights, and fail as United States citizens. If people do not vote then they are basically letting someone else make a decision for themselves. Sooner or later, that person will not be comfortable with the government because things might not be going well for that person in regards to specific issues like taxes, health care, a simple issue could turn into a nightmare. Now, that person will not have any say in it and have to adjust into the new environment. It’s not only for themselves but also to the children who can’t vote and want a better future. The physically impaired, handicapped, will also be affected because they can’t really do anything alone and can’t vote for themselves. Voting is essential in the United States system for the reason that many people back then fought for this important privilege to vote.
