Al Capone and The 1920’s In the 1920s alcohol was outlawed;, this time was called the prohibition. The prohibition caused a huge rise in crime. This was the beginning of organized crime. One gang would rise and control an entire areas alcohol distribution. Eventually gangs from different cities would join together to make operations even bigger. Then the gangs started to do things that wasn't just sell alcohol, they started doing many other illegal things. One of the leaders of the most notorious gangs in Chicago was Al Capone.
