Dogs are not pets to most of us, more so, they are family. But, just like family, they should be kept separate from the work environment. Some people may think bringing your dog to work would be a job perk, but it brings more problems than relief. There would have to be more maintenance needed in the work facilities, other employees or customers may feel unsafe, and employees would have to watch their dog while on the job.

Inviting dogs to the work environment would cause many of the other employees, without pets, to complain for various reasons. One being,
"accidents", which will result in extra maintanence from the janitorial staff. Another example would be the noise; dogs are not the quietest animals. In the article, "Against Bringing Dogs to Work", the author implies how, "Companies are legally required to provide a safe, healthy work environment for their employees." Allowing dogs at work could potentially break this rule and may cause for legal action.

Speaking of feeling safe, if it is a job in the customer service industry, customer's may also feel unsafe around other pets. It is the company's best interest to satisfy the customer in every way and this may come in between of that. Dogs require attention and in certain situations, they may have to drop what they are doing to tend to their pet. At a workplace, your number one priority is your job. Permitting dogs to come to work interferes with the employee's ability to doing their very best; because, they are not only working, they are also dogsitting.
