No one in this venture exists altruistically. Facebook gets more users from untapped sectors of internet population, service providers get more customers, who in the past, hesitated to purchase any internet pack, will now get free internet hence they choose those providers ' service for free internet and thus the service providers get new user base. Once the users get acquainted with free internet, they will be willing to recharge internet packs for usage other than the free sites which will fetch the service providers some revenue, from the previously untapped sector. Another loophole we see is the reduced entrepreneurship and local internet innovation that places firms in a situation where their local consumers are all locked in to a limited platform under the control of a few giants. Also, having a single central entity controlling exactly what we can and cannot see on the internet is clearly not neutral. In my opinion, such a system is subject to internal politics, corporate pressure and the pressure of public opinion. Service providers are expected to enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or

The Pearson Podcasting Episode on Communication titled “Technology and Interpersonal Communication” relates very well to our lesson material. This episode is number three in a series and is very similar to Professor Green’s portion of the lecture titled “The Dark Side of the Internet” on CANVAS, because it clearly presents both advantages and disadvantages of Computer Mediated Communication or CMC (Green “Dark”; Podcast). The podcast also reinforces the definition of Interpersonal Relationships as those having a degree of interdependence among the participants (Green “Penetration”; Child, Pearson, and Nelson 39; Podcast).
One of the key attributes amongst living things is communication. There are many ways for humans to communicate, whether it is face to face, telegrams, snail mail, texting, et cetera. The form of communication that has rapidly increased over the years is social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Google Plus, et cetera. In fact, according to Pew Internet, as of 2012, eighty-one percent of teenagers who use the Internet are using it for social networking sites (Madden et al.). Furthermore, as of May 2013, seventy-two percent of adults who are online are social networking sites users, which is five percent higher than a year ago and sixty-four percent higher than where it was in February 2005 (Brenner and Smith). With the numbers of users rising over the years, it has become clear social networking sites has established itself as a legitimate form of communication, whether for personal, educational, or even professional use. While there are some concerns about using social networking sites – many of them being valid – the advantages of using social networking sites outweigh the disadvantages, which will be addressed shortly. Moreover, when it comes to communicating with others, social networking is more advantageous than any other form of communication, including face to face communication.

Technology has changed modern society drastically, both positively and negatively. Technology has influenced every aspect of our life, making it simpler but not necessarily better. Albert Einstein was concerned about the advancement of technology. "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction."1 Undoubtedly, what has changed the most are communication, the spread of information, and how business is practiced. Consequently, practically everyone knows how to use a computer, connect to the Internet, or use a smartphone. This is demonstrated by the way the Internet is used daily by millions of people to communicate, to sell, advertise, retrieve, and share information. Thanks to the Internet, information from anywhere in the world is at our fingertips. As a result, the advancement of technology has changed our life in many ways including; sharing of information, communication, business, education, social interaction, simplifying everyday tasks, replacing basic skills and jobs.
