Introduction:

Social networks are, as the name suggests is a means of communicating and socially engaging with different kinds of people online. The main purposes social networks serve include sharing ideas among people with different ideas, staying connected with the happenings in the world and making new friends through communication. Modernization has brought so many good things with it which not only makes the life of people easier but also makes communication a “one click” process hence increasing the number of virtual friends as well. According to Lenhart (2015), an online survey proved that 57% of the people who did the survey met a new friend online; which is more than half and furthermore there will still be a lot of people who did not take the survey. Social networks come in different forms but the most important social networking site especially in Bhutan is “Facebook”. Humans are designed to interact which is why the idea of chatting with people we never met in real-life can be very fascinating. That is why most people blindly trust a person and do not hesitate to confirm the friend requests of people they do not know when the other person could be using fake identities. In a survey conducted by Zapatero, Brandle and San (2013), when they asked the internet users about trust, 54.8% which is more than half of the respondents said that strangers deserve to be trusted while only 45.2% said that strangers do not deserve trust.
